The only currently available wad that will hold a full 1/2 ounce in a once-fired compression formed (old-style)AA .410 hull is a Orange PC 410, currently manufactured by Down Range. The volume of the hull increases each time a it is fired. After a couple reloads the old AA .410 wads will work. After 5-6 reloads Remington of Federal wads will work. I don't have any experience with the HS wads.

Federal wads will work if you can find any.

Winchester wads with the horse and rider logo will work.

The older wads with "AA" in a blue square are too big and only work in the older Remington hulls.

YMMV

The orange PC wad works well with Hodgdon H110.

cp 50 50 is a typo, and should be CB5050-410HS. Ths is the Claybuster wad: http://www.claybusterwads.com/index.php/product-by-gauge/by-gauge-410

Yellow Duster is the .410 wad made by Micro Technologies under their Duster brand: http://www.dusterwads.com/info.htm

Thanks Bob..

I've got to get some wads soon...I traded 500 HS 28 Gauge Hulls for 500 Winchester CF/old style .410's but wasn't aware of wad issues. I just figured they would be easy to get thru Winchester I guess.

I have been using Claybusters on HS .410 hulls with a better fill and crimp finish than the Winchester HS wads... (and just the opposite on the 28 gauge..the Winchester wads work better there for me).

I guess I'll try the Claybusters first, since we can get them thru the club with a considerable discount. Not sure about the other brands...haven't heard of some of them before.

Best regards..Stan
