Neil W. said here on TS that he began shooting registered trap in 1982 and had never shot any 44 degree angles(3 hole)targets. That's one reason I outlined what the targets were supposed to be set at according to the rules till 34 degree angles were officially adopted in 95/96.

It doesn't take much of a brain storm to figure out that a lot more money could be made when we shot a MUCH more difficult target. I know of a lady shooting a lone 25 at the old Mint GC in Las Vegas getting around $1300.00 bucks for her effort!! Her son posts here quite often.

RWT,

My experience has all been with two different fairly recent model Pat-Traps (like within the last 10 years). Is/was there an earlier model that oscillated continuously?

Hap, tell you one better than that. In 1979 at Taylors winter shoot, Bonillas and I had the only 25's on the first trap one day. It amounted to $916.00 each which equates to $1832.00 if one of us had missed. THose were the days :)

Maybe with all the reductions going out to make scores better why don't we just lock the trap on straights as well? End this 2 or 3 hole talk. Mandatory options as well. Every shooter will get back $50 less than the entry. Leveling the field so to speak.

Martin, the best part of her story? She mistakenly picked my gun out of the rack and shot that round with it! I thought I would have to whup her to get my gun back so I could take the line!!

Another Bob Taylor story. Before we began shooting the singles event that morning, the wind was terrible and blowing hard! 70 plus mph winds! After it was over, only 2 shooters had scores in the 90s!! Britt shot the winning score of 95 and this kid (me) had the other, a 93!! I got about 500 bucks for my 93 in singles!! Britt said afterward, I see you've shot in the wind before also! Those were the days for sure! It would be tough to make that kind of money today at the Grand? I doubt there'd be much in the pot for starters? Close enough with the amount of shooters there.

I'm not so sure that I want to be 2yds ahead of Old Goggleyed Flinchenhammer Sr. when one of those 70mph white flyers comes screaming out sideways on my side the side of the trap house like all you hard asses seem to want. It was bad enough the time he marched right on past me waving his gun around when his trigger finger wouldn't cooperate and release the trigger. Level ll or llA do you think?

I won $81 for a Handicap 25 straight on 3-holers once-my personal record. Of course, that was in PA-not noted for record payoffs. Heck, when they raised option prices from $5 to $10 it eliminated half the players!!
