What is the recommended wad pressure setting for the Mec? I am getting very little and the wad guide will not let me get more, no room under rod.

With modern hulls and wads you can add enough needed pressure with your pinky finger. As others have stated, the modern wads only need to be seated with very little to no pressure. The pressure settings were used with the older style wads. Alot of modern loaders don't even have a wad pressure reading or adjustment.

What is your actual load and hull. That would determine what you need if any. The amount of pressure you need is only to seat the wad fully into the hull. The pressure is developed in the crimping stations. If you are not getting good crimps then tell us what kind of crimp you are getting and we can probably help you to correct that. Jackie B.

Loosen the set screw that holds the powder ram tube and move the tube UP slightly. Load a shell and watch the wad pressure indicator, what you want is for it to just barely move. Adjust as many times as required until the indicator just moves slightly. Like others have said 5 lbs is enough.

p.s. I know the instructions say 30 -50 lbs. When MEC wrote the manual in 1925 they were correct...now...5 lbs or less is what you want. Think they will ever update the manual?

Do you mean an AA HULL, Clays, and Downrange wad? The AA HS hull, because of the lip from its separate basewad, does frequently need a little more pressure than other hulls to seat the wad past the basewad lip. If your crimps are ok and the hull is not collapsing in the final crimp station, you have enough pressure.
