DOC: Remove forend. Inside the iron you will see a small slotted screw. It is visable through the round hole in the iron. Loosen it and the plunger will come out. Then use your stock wrench to remove the inner retainer. After it's out, tap the iron with a plastic hammer and it's out.

Geez. At the end of the forend iron at the radius that fits into the receiver is 2 3mm hex bolts. Back those out completely. Remove and lay aside. Then grasp the iron and pull/wiggle the iron away from the forend wood. About 50% of the time it will not release.. If not, then grasp the forend wood with your dominate hand and smack the junction of iron wood several times into the palm of your other hand and on top and bottom. Usually now you will see a small space beginning to form between the iron and the wood. Wiggle again and most of the time it will come loose. Get it apart before we tell you how to reassemble.

Does the removal "latch" come out together with the iron or does than drop out from the other side.

The latch pops to the outside. Push it out with your fingers or my fave tool with the forend iron parts is an old plastic toothbush as a punch and my plastic hammer. Tap one end at a time.
