One the trial is in Penn and not Ca. There aren't any big time lawyers that are being over paid and boring the jury. Its a short trial. Most if not all of the jury had kids. I'll help you understand the remarks on JoePa. He knew what happened. He reported it only to Penn State insiders. He saw it get buried. He did nothing about children who he knew had gotten molested and nothing to prevent the molester from harming more children, which he did, for years. Those who want to play Joe P. as some honorable person simply because of his football coaching accomplishments have real issues. Winning football games does not trump doing the right thing with knowledge of both illegal and disgusting things happening with innocent children. He had a responsibility to everyone of those kids to make sure they were protected and see to it the offenders were properly dealt with once he had knowledge of these acts. Hide behind that chain of command excuse all you want but here's the fact: Org Chart BS aside, JoePa was the most influencial and powerful person at Penn State, period. And it wasn't even a close call. All hero Joe had to do was make one phone call to the right law enforcement person, or the media, and Sandusky would have been finished. And no more children would have been molested by that depraved animal. All the comparitively trivial charitable crap JoePa did in the mean time to mitigate the shame he felt in his own heart doesn't change the reality that he willfully turned a blind eye to children being raped. All to avoid a blemish on his precious football program.

The truth be known, a lot of this behavior has always gone on. Think back to your Boy Scout days when swimming at the YMCA or scout camp included a lot of skinny dipping, etc. Think back about the number of our leaders that didn't seem to like girls. Sports teams always used to shower together, I don't know about today. There were lines of toilets rather than stalls in military barracks, etc. Even today, men stand side by side with their private parts in their hands at the urinals. The bright spot in all of this may be set standards of what is going to be acceptable. Now that it is out there, what happens to Sandusky may be more of a historic footnote. IMHO. Ron

How in the heck does that in anyway link to kids being raped? I did Scouts as a boy and played sports where it was normal to shower after games. There is higher links in the chain the local LEO's. The State Police for example amoung all sorts of State agencies. Once the courts prove that the people above KNEW of the things he was doing there are going to be some big law suits. GOOD.

That's exactly right. Authorities are already well on their way to proving it was a vast cover-up known full-well by Paterno, Schultz, and many others at the highest levels at Penn State. This will cost Penn State tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars. But that's pocket change to Penn State and it's not right to let them simply pay-off the victims and shut them up. The federal government, the NCAA, and decent parents of current Penn State students should make an example out of Penn State. For starters, the football program - where all of this child rape originated - should be shut down for at least as long as the molestations were allowed to go on. That's one decade, minimum. Whatever they do, the university that allowed these horrors to go on should be brought to its knees and the punishment should forever be remembered to exemplify what happens to an institution which makes an executive decision to continue letting children be raped in order to conceal the truth and maximize revenues. Because that is PRECISELY what happened.

Every one of the turds they find had prior knowledge of this going on and turned a blind eye or aided in covering it up should be convicted and sentenced right along with Sandusky. By the way, NBC News provided an improperly edited tape of Bob Costas interviewing Sandusky that the defense is now crying about in preparation for their appeal. It repeats Costas' question about whether Sandusky is sexually attracted to young boys, and Sandusky's reply -- twice -- as though the conversation actually happened that way. More fodder for tying up courts and pissing away taxpayer money.

Instead of "suicide watch" how about we give him a big screw-eye and some rope?
