I have noticed quite a few shooters with iPod or MP3 players with molded ear plugs, listening to something while shooting.
What are the best sounds or music to help you relax so you can stay focused on the targets??
I thought of making a recording for the way I shoot ---Damn, Oh-Sh*t, Lost, Lost, Lost, unload and rotate !!
TrappyPappy
Why would you want to listen to music when you have the music of all the beautifull shotguns going off all around you
warren
Don't forget the relaxing smell of spent gun powder.
Wagner, Puccini maybe a little Annie Lennox...
"Walk This Way" by Aerosmith.
Worked for me. It's all in the rhythm.
(SPOKEN:) Dear God, you made many, many poor people. I realize, of course, that it's no great shame to be poor... but it's no great honor, either. So what would have been the difference if I had... a small fortune?
If I were a rich man, Daidle deedle daidle Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum All day long I'd biddy-biddy-bum If I were a wealthy man. I wouldn't have to work hard, Daidle deedle daidle Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum If I were a biddy-biddy rich, Daidle deedle daidle daidle man.
I'd build a big tall house with rooms by the dozen Right in the middle of the town, A fine tin roof with real wooden floors below. There would be one long staircase just going up And one even longer coming down, And one more leading nowhere, just for show.
I'd fill my yard with chicks and turkeys and geese And ducks for the town to see and hear, Squawking just as noisily as they can, And each loud "pa-pa-geeee! pa-pa-gaack! pa-pa-geeee! pa-pa-gaack!" Would land like a trumpet on the ear, As if to say, "Here lives a wealthy man." Oy!
I see my wife, my Golde, looking like a rich man's wife, With a proper double chin, Supervising meals to her heart's delight. I see her putting on airs and strutting like a peacock, Oy! What a happy mood she's in, Screaming at the servants day and night.
The most important men in town will come to fawn on me-- They will ask me to advise them, Like a Solomon the Wise-- "If you please, Reb Tevye?"-- "Pardon me, Reb Tevye?"-- Posing problems that would cross a rabbi's eyes-- (chanting) Ya va voy, ya va voy voy vum... And it won't make one bit of difference If I answer right or wrong-- When you're rich, they think you really know.
If I were rich, I'd have the time that I lack To sit in the synagogue and pray, And maybe have a seat by the Eastern wall, And I'd discuss the learned books with the holy men Seven hours every day-- That would be the sweetest thing of all... Oy!
If I were a rich man, Daidle deedle daidle Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum All day long I'd biddy-biddy-bum If I were a wealthy man. I wouldn't have to work hard, Daidle deedle daidle Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum Lord who made the lion and the lamb, You decreed I should be what I am-- Would it spoil some vast, eternal plan, If I were a wealthy man?
How About -
Mellow- Don Williams - I believe in you
Throw Down Rap - Tone Loc - Funky Cold Medina
I also downloaded one hour of beach wave sounds (it put me to sleep!)
Maybe I would be better off with - How Big'a Boy are ya - Roy D. Mercer (open a can of whoop-ass on them targets).

Pop goes the weasel?
I shoot with music that the tempo is in tune with the speed I shoot. Example, If you are a fast shooter you need up tempo music if you are a slower shooter you need slower music. This way it is easier to shoot if everything is the same speed.
This is a subject that I've thought about for quite some time. Per Terry Jordan's suggestion, I bought Dan Gibson's "Natural Stress Relief" from Amazon. Since I bought it as an mp3 download, I only spent $4. Sounds of nature are not my favorite thing to listen to, so I was a bit skeptical at first. But after shooting with it for some practice sessions, I found that it helped ease my anxiety during shooting--since I am trying to slow down my shooting, that was just what the doctor ordered. I also find Thievery Corporation helps keep me toned down.
The important thing to remember when shooting with music is that the volume should be low. That way the music won't be a distraction.
When my son and I arrive at the club, we sometimes play, "The Boys are Back In Town."
Pigkiller thanks for bring up Terry's suggestion. I also purchased the solitude music and just got my custom monitors. Been using the music with the wall chart and will be shooting tomorrow with the setup. My issue was less anxiety but rather thinking to much causing missed shots. Joe
Everything in life is better while listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd. :-)
Literalist like to listen to this ewe tube favorite while wearing his Denny Spurling signature series velcro riding gloves. Hit the link above
Sexbomb : by The Greatest singer in the history of mankind The great TOM JONES!! Actually anything by Tom Jones will work But Sexbomb is the ultimate groove!!!
For me I have a trap playlist... The Chipmunks... Tiny Tim.... Fess Parker and Buddy Ebson singing the Ballad of the Alamo... and oh yes.... theme songs from Bonanza, The Rifleman and Maverick....
I AM KIDDING.... silence is golden for me.
So, Star, do you like any other Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons songs while shooting?
JoeP: Wellll.... NO. I pretty much listen to Joe Bonamassa and Billy Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton enroute to my gun clubs. Those guys are and were great blues/rock guitarists. But on the line... I just listen to my eyes and go over my mental cue phrases... no music for me. I just keep it simple.
My Maserati does 185 I lost my license Now I can't drive
Best Regards, Ed
avoid lyrics.
HM
I use Kenny G
Pink Floyd.
OldGoat, life's been good to both of us, hasn't it?
Charlie
Hit me with your best shot Pat Benatar
Good One- hehawboy
Frankenstein.
how about "the old brown cow, she ain't what she used to be, many long years ago"
If I need to chill----Escala, Bonamassa are the best.
If I need to get wired up.....OZZY, Dio, Led Zeppelin, Pink FLoyd
NO Bs----look up this band called Escala. They won Britan's got talent. 4-20 year old female musicians. They are classically trained violinists, that play electric violins and cello's. You have got to hear their verion of Kashmir.
I do what GWII does....pic a tempo that matches my pace. A clean 85 to 87 beats per min. works well.
Hey Star, Who the heck is "Billy Ray Vaughn"? Maybe you were thinking of the dude with the hat in the pic below. If'n you like blues guitar, the other "guy" ain't too bad either.
UP
Theme from "Rocky," that should get you fired up. Maybe "Flight of the Valkyries" if you want to be aggressive.
Leon Russell, Zamphir, Etta James, Keb Mo, Aretha Franklin, Katie Webster, Bonnie Raite, Hugh Laurie (Yeah, the guy from "House" on TV.. Pretty good bluesman),Taj Mahal, etc, etc........... Just my preference.... Dan Thome (Trap2)
'bout 20 or 30 minutes of Get Ready' - Rare Earth
Bozo's Montreux - Leppelin works too.
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb & Shine on Crazy Diamonds then for a nightcap to finish the last 25...Led Zepplin's Dazed & Confused. Typical 65 yr. old music.

Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" does the trick
I listen to different music at different times prior to practice and competition. Before getting to the range, I listen to Kyuss, Rollins Band, Metallica, Helmet, Rage Against the Machine, etc. to get pumped up. When I'm shooting I switch to much more mellow music such as Thievery Corporation, Cal Tjader and even a sounds of nature CD. This music helps me slow down and be more deliberate.
After reading all this, I decided to try some music while I shot this weekend. Unfortunately I chose "I'm Missing You" by Diana Ross. Couldn't get the lyrics out of my head - missed a lot of shots. Guess I need to beh more selective with my tunes.
I haven't done this yet, but when I do it will be "Liquid Tension Experiment" or perhaps Devin Townsend's Ghost album.
I Listen to Pat Benatar Hit Me With Your Best Shot.
Steve Lee's music video clip about his love of guns. http://youtu.be/-TC2xTCb_GU
ROFLMAO's "I'm Sexy and I know it"....if I wiggle my a$$ just right I'm always high gun on the squad cuz the others cant get off the ground from laughing...wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle ; )) The owners, administrators and moderators of the Trapshooters.com have no obligation to keep objectionable messages off this forum.
