I step up to shoot my new gun tonight and it just goes "CLICK!" shoot me a pm if you got any ideas...
Put shell in gun,try again...LMAO,,sorry,couldn't resist.
Doug H.
I did a bunch of times. I'm freakin out.
Have you removed the trigger group and see if it is functioning properly?
I suspect you might have a broken firing pin, if you not getting any indentation on the primers.
Trigger is just fine. That's the first thing I checked. I thought it might be the firing pin... -Aaron Schneider
Is it leaving any mark on the primers at all?
firing pin,
NONE. ZERO. No marks on the primers whatsoever. -Aaron Schneider
As BigM said, firing pin.
Crap, ok thanks. Appreciate it... -Aaron Schneider
BT-100's are known for breaking firing pins. The new ones are upgraded!!
Remove the barrel and trigger group, face receiver down as if you are shoot the ground. Put your finger in the trigger opening and depress back of firing pin and see if the tip protrudes from recoil face. If it does not stick out, then it's broken. It can still be broken and fire providing the tip which is about 3/16 long is still trapped in the firing pin hole.
Just tried that... Firing pin isn't poking out... Awww man... That makes me feel upset... -Aaron Schneider
Cock gun, remove barrel and forend, turn gun upright, place empty shell on breech face, pull trigger. Empty casing should fly up around 2 ft!!
Ok, I'll give it a shot... -Aaron Schneider EDIT: It looked like the hull was sleeping quite peacefully even through the loud "CLICK!" the gun made when I pulled the trigger...
There's a guy on this site that sells spring kits and firing pins. J&P order two sets and keep one in your shooting bag. There's usually someone around that can change them. They are cheap enough.
Bill
Check your ejection rod. Mine bent and did the same thing you are describing.
If you are a reloader, make sure your primers are not being seated to deeply, also check to make sure your mainspring [hammer spring]in your trigger assembly is not broken or weak, it will get weak after a while and when it is left cocke for a long periods of time. Very simple fix to replace spring.
Is this the first ever time you had this gun out?
I step up to shoot my new gun tonight and it just goes "CLICK!"
a call to previous owner??
My buddy had the same thing happen to his BT-100 a couple of weeks ago. He took the receiver and placed it in a ultrasonic cleaner and cleaned it real good a couple of times. He then soaked it in mineral spirits a few hours and then wiped it down and blew it out with air. It was crud inside the cocking rods that was keeping the gun from re-setting completely. There wasn't anything wrong with the firing pin at all.
Kevin
No, I have shot it before. -Aaron Schneider
Punch out the firing pin retainer pin and remove the firing pin and spring. It's going to look like the top pin in my photo of bt100 pins.
Forget that, gun's going to browning tonight... I live near Arnold, Missouri so this wont be too difficult.
You might have it back by the grand, that's a 10 minute job with a break in between.
I lied, it aint at browning tonight, and it ain't gonna be there tomorrow either. Still a broken firing pin, taking it to Midwest.
You drop it off at browning and you'll have it a week before the 2013 grand. my Bt 99 was sent to Browning in march and they said to expect it between thanksgiving and Christmas. Its onlt having two (2) screws removed. Best part of it is I bought a BT 100 and been kicking ash.. os
Pulled the pin out tonight, that bastard's broke. I'm gonna do it myself. -Aaron Schneider
Congratulations, your now a Trapshooter, get yourself a Perazzi and an extra trigger group...
Riiiiiiiiighhhhht... -Aaron Schneider
If you noticed the firing pin is in at an angle. My smith says that is why they break a little more than would be expected.
Bill
For what its worth ..I replaced mine with one made of Titanium ..cost more but will never break again The owners, administrators and moderators of the Trapshooters.com have no obligation to keep objectionable messages off this forum.
