You would think these olympic shooters would have custom stocks instead of stacking their factory combs way up.

At first I wasn't a big fan of the short rib, but the more I look at them the more they are growing on me. Good looking guns there.

What is the benefit of a short rib vs. the entire length of the barrel?

There are two main advantages of going with the Mini Rib. First, and this is with any add-on rib, is the added rib gives a more heads up posture when shooting. As many good shooters, and Devault stock maker in particular, will attest, with a heads up posture, the eye is always in the center of your vision field. This makes the target much easier to see, and also, to hit. This holds true shooting Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, or any other game.

The second advantage, which only applies to the Mini Rib, is there is nothing in front of the eyes to distract when looking for/at the target. With the conventional ribs, there are always the receiver or bump in the rib to look past. Without knowing it, many shooters will glance back at the receiver/rib bump just as they are ready to fire. This will happen without the shooter even knowing they are doing it. When this does happen, the result is always a lost bird. With the Mini Rib, there is nothing between your eyes and the target. It will seem strange at first, but after a couple of rounds you will wonder how you ever shot a conventional ribbed gun.

Just wondering how ya figgered this out, seeings as how the shooter doesn't even know he is doing it. How does someone know what the shooter is doing, more than the shooter himself?

JUst a sales pitch maybe?

Hippie, Many, not all International doubles shooters have gone to high short ribs with good success, others have stayed with a full length high rib. In both cases, these shooters have seen improvements to their scores.

Target acquistion is vastly improved with these tall short ribs. As the old saying goes, don't knock it until you've tried it!

Change is what fuels progress and progress is what improves everything in our lives. If you're not changing, you're not progressing.............

I made taller combs out of scrap wood to make sure this is what I wanted. It really only took about 40 minutes. The beauty of making it out of scrap, if it isn't right, just sand away. Can't hurt anything!!

Skeetman,

Ted Alsteen is my son. He did buy a couple of ribs and put them on his Remingtons.

There are no middle beads on the mini-ribs. With the mini-ribs I shoot more-or-less off of the end of the rib. Do not even notice there is no middle bead. Best thing, is to take the gun with the new mini-rib to a pattern board as it is different than looking down a regular rib. Once you're happy with the set-up on the pattern board, there is no need for a middle bead. If you're a bead checker, the mini-rib will help you keep your eyes on the bird.

The first post was rough, the second post a bit better, so I retreated to the pattern board and adjusted the point of impact up. Went shot some with better results, but still not to my liking. So back to the pattern board, from where iset the gun to 90/10, then I shot 48/50. Now it's just putting in the practice. Overall I like the improved visibility and heads up feel of shooting, also since my head is more up the recoil seemed less to non existent, or possibly that was my imagination.

I always recommend that everyone who buys the raised rib to first go to the pattern board. It is a little different set up and 30 minutes at the pattern board will save hours of headaches later.

Today I went to one of the local clubs to let a fellow try my Ljutic demo gun with the 25mm mini-rib. I have it set right around 70/30 POI so most people can shoot it. He shot it better than any gun he has tried. He liked it so much, he bought the rib, and the GUN! Lucky for me, I have another Ljutic to set up as a demo gun, with both pull and release trigger groups.

I'll post a picture when I get it ready.

Surfer,

Hard question to answer. The mini-rib mounts on top of the existing rib. The height of the existing rib could be anything. Also, the mini-rib has a 1/4" POI adjustment. The best answer I could give is; With the mini-rib set in the middle position (POI), a 40mm rib will raise the top of the new rib 40mm over the rib it is mounted on. As a note, I only carry the 25mm and the 30mm mini-ribs. I can include any of the ribs Bridgeshoot makes when I order more mini-ribs, but I don't stock them. Just the savings on shipping and duties, if included with another order, is huge.

Hope I answered your question!

Surfer,

I measured the Ljutic in the picture.

Here are the measurements:

With the rib in the lowest position, it is 32mm from the top of the barrel to the top of the rib.

With the rib in the highest position, it is 38mm from the top of the barrel to the top of the rib.

Hope that helps,

Tomas

So far, those who have tried the mini-rib have really seen a difference in their shooting. The combination of head up, looking through the center of your shooting glasses, and short rib, make the game much easier. It's like just pointing your finger at the target. (Your finger never misses.) Also, for me, the recoil seems much less.

I sold a mini-rib to a fellow this morning and mounted it on a Browning Citori O/U that was shooting way too flat for him. This gun doesn't even have an adjustable comb, (not yet anyway). I showed him how to hold the gun at the same place lower on his face ( not under his cheek bone) and how to adjust the POI. I got a call from him, he went to the pattern board and adjusted the pattern much higher than the original gun. Then, to his amazement, he ran a trap, (first time). He is one happy guy. Said it was the easiest targets he has ever shot.

If you're not happy with your scores, this an in-expensive way to get to the next step.

Tractorboy,

Yes, you could use one rib on two guns. Two set screws is all that is needed to switch. The cost of the extra pair of fasteners is $100.

I have several costumers who have the extra fasteners for use on different barrels.

I just need the measurements of each barrel.

Eric,

Yes, I will be there with 3 sizes of Bridgeshoot mini-ribs. Ted, will be a work. Ted is my son. I don't mind getting mistaken for Ted, he's a much better shot than I am.

I will have the NEW 15mm mini-rib at this shoot. I haven't seen the rib as I'm getting the first shipment next week. With the 15mm min-rib, the standard comb posts will work. I'm anxious to try the new rib, as it will be a way for a lot of people to raise the POI without seeing a lot of rib. (I could never shoot with a lot of space between the beads.)

I'll have the following demo guns for folks to try the mini-ribs:

25mm mini-rib--Ljutic mid-rib Monogun with pull and release triggers

15mm mini-rib--Remington 870 with pull and release triggers.

See you at the Inland Empire, one of the best shoots, and getting better.

Thanks for all the hard work!!
