Not only Zero, but WA state too!!

There are laws on the books about criminals not being allowed to hold certain jobs.

The state is trying to figure out how to end run around them so company's will hire criminals over law abiding citizens!!!

Does this mean businesses will have to now hire ex-congressmen and other politicians?

I would rather hire a rapist than a pol

You know what a rapist wants to do to a woman and the pol wants to do the same thing to you

Why are buisness not required to hire vets? I know it is not right to require a buisness to hire anybody, but it looks like somebody would try to help vets. Mike

A clerk at a local "used to be" Gun Shop in downtown Nashville got pinched smoking a joint in the parking lot of the shop. He is still working there. He did not seem to think he had done wrong, and really griped because they took his Kimber 45. LOL

You would be surprised at felons and such holding jobs they shouldn't and having access to property and people they shouldn't.

I read in the Amarillo Globe News today, that on this date in 1907, President Teddy Roosevelt signed an immigration act which excluded " idiots, imbeciles, feebleminded persons, epileptics, and insane persons" from being admitted to the United States. I guess few slipped through.

Actually the date is a bit off.

And here's a little history of the various immigration acts.

The original immigration acts were the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798. The reasons for this act are many and complex, but it should be noted that because of tax issues several states threatened to leave the union. The 5th Congress made this a treasonable act. Prior to this, it was believed that states had the right to leave the union. The immigration part of the acts mainly had to do with French immigrants and others seen as anarchists. This was seen as an issue due to an undeclared naval war with France.

Next was the Page act of 1875. This was designed mainly to limit Chinese immigration. It was asserted the Chinese were taking jobs, spreading disease, and sending money out of the country.

The Immigration act of 1903, which Roosevelt signed, was aimed mainly at preventing anarchists from immigrating. It was mainly a response to an anarchists bomb that killed several policemen in Chicago, and their manifesto to eliminate the middle class and rich by any means necessary. This act was re-enacted in 1906.

Because only 15 anarchists have been positively stopped by the act from immigrating, the act was enhanced by the Immigration Act of 1918. during the high point of the anarchists bombing campaign from 1914 to 1932, more than 4,000 anarchist immigrants already here were arrested and deported.

To be sure these acts also included other criteria for immigration. Aside from epilepsy, there were numerous health or mental issues. My wife's grandmother was almost prevented from passing through Ellis Island because she had a pronounced limp from an improperly set bone fracture. They quarantined her for a while to make sure she did not have polio or some other disease. This was in the 1920's when she and her husband were fleeing the communists in the Ukraine.

Let him use them as bodyguards for his children if he thinks they are harmless.
