    "You didn

The Bumbler in Chief has once again displayed his ineptness.

"Government research created the internet" I sort of choked on that one.

Mash the link for the story.

Unfortunately I also see several several web sites agreeing with that misstatement.

As Pogo Possum said, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

If we allow him to claim the success of small business because of government, that will allow government to claim the success (profits) and only give the business what the government thinks the business should deserve.

Same thing Lenin, Marx and Trotsky said 100 years ago.

    HM, et.al.,

The following in no way aligns with politics--just the truth:

The DOD did develop the technology that became the internet as we know it today; specifically, packet switching and x.25 protocol.

In its beginning it was used for classified DOD networks. It was subsequently opened up to the commercial private sector.

Guy,,,,,it may have been funded by the government and started by their employees,,,,,but would have not gone a nano of where it is today and where it will go without individuals reaching for the limits.....

Seems that they have forgotten the individuals that work to create things. It is due to their intelligence and desires that enhance our lot in life.

Not intended to disparage anyone but "it may have been funded by the government and started by their employees"? Where does the government get its money and who are its (their} employees?

for catpower; the inventor of the Mosaic Browser, Marc Andreesen, credits Gore with making his work possible. He received a federal grant through Gore's High Performance Computing Act. The University of Pennsylvania's Dave Ferber says that without Gore the Internet "would not be where it is today."

Joseph E. Traub, a computer science professor at Columbia University, claims that Gore "was perhaps the first political leader to grasp the importance of networking the country. Could we perhaps see an end to cheap shots from politicians and pundits about inventing the Internet?"
