Are the "Y" models marked as "Trap"? I have recently seen some for sale that are FC,MC,VR but not marked trap. So are there "Y Models" marked Trap and Skeet?

Pretty much after early 1964 production guns were no longer offered. Trap guns had 30 inch full, skeet had 26 inch skeet barrels, field had 28 inch modified. These were considered custom guns and all had vent ribs, jeweled bolts and lifters, and upgraded wood. From late 1964 until 1972 only Super Pigeon guns were offered from the custom shop. Production started again in 1972 with trap, skeet, and field guns offered in choice of barrel length and choke, upgraded wood, vert ribs , etc were standard. Skeet and field were discontinued in 1976, trap guns were sold until 1980. The serial number from 1972 until 1980 ran from 1,990,000 to 2,026,721. But to answer your question I don't think the Y guns had "Trap" on them. This info from the George Madis book....anyone that enjoys Model 12s should get the book, its really interesting and informative....WC

After around 1950, trap and skeet grades were not marked as such. Y guns were not marked trap or skeet.
