I am trying to decide between an XS Skeet or a Citori trap. The XS skeet has 30 in barrels, 3 extended chokes, and a Browning hard case all in good condition for $1450. The Citori Trap is from 1986 and comes with a 30 in barrel , 4 flush chokes, no case and the gun looks to be in good shape for $1150. I shoot on UVA's shotgun team and am focused mainly on skeet, trap, and sporting clays. I am worried that the Citori trap is heavier and older, and I have heard a lot of good things about the XS skeet. Any advice?? Thanks! Nick

For all around shooting, go with the XS Skeet. It will work fine for trap because it has a fairly straight stock and a little higher rib than the
    XS sporting clays.

An XS Skeet works for all shotgun sports. I have had both and the XS will also hold a better value than an older Citori.

Opions are like a lot of other things... everone has one.

Mine is that Skeet guns don't perform as well as trap guns, shooting trap

also the lighter the gun the more felt recoil. I have shoot many rounds of

(and did quite well) with a 30" bbl. trap gun with skeet chokes.

Nothing aganst the SX, it is a great Skeet gun.

XS Skeet which probably has a palm swell and an adjustable comb. Will shoot trap just fine and will excel at skeet and sporting clays. Regards, Ed

Also, the XS model usually has a nickled receiver which is much better than a blued receiver because if won't wear like a blued receiver. Get the one that fits you the best and swings the best for the games that you will be shooting. Bob

Nick, The XS Skeet gun should have a Palm Swell, maybe even a Exaggerated palm swell depending on the year manufactured. Now the Citori Trap gun will not even have the invector plus chokes, nor should it have any palm swell. Do get a target gun with over-bored barrels like one with "nvector plus" chokes. Now the palm swell is a feature I really enjoy, but you may not. I'd get the Skeet gun for all 3 games. A 30 inch barrel is perfect for all 3. Good luck and break em all JEff

The palm swell is nice but only if the shooter is right handed!!

I'd tend to go with the XS Skeet because it is newer, and has a parallel comb. It also has the longer Invector Plus chokes and the overbored barrel. That said, both XS I bought (one in 12 ga, one in 20 ga) I had to add an adjustable comb in order to see the beads at all. The single most important item of shotgun fit is height of eye. "You will not hit if it does not fit."
