PBB - I own 3 number one rugers, really nice guns but out of the box they are far from tack drivers. The reason is the hammer spring is located below the barrel and when the gun goes off, the spring induces a lot of uncontrolled vibration into the the barrel. To fix, you have to drill through the hanger, tap the hole and install a set screw. You also have to install a small pillow block in the barrel to spread out the pressure of turning the screw. This has the overall effect of pulling the hanger away from the barrel and minimizing the twang from the hammer spring.

I will add that this is a great price on a nice gun.

The hammer spring oscillation is minor. The main bugaboo is the sight ramp abutting the receiver. If The ramp touches the receiver, remove it and take off enough material so there is about 1/32" between the ramp and the receiver. This was the main reason these guns had erratic accuracy.

A lighter gun like the No.3 might be more affected by the hammer spring oscillation. This was considered minor by Ruger designers.
