1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

I've lost my favorite pocket compass a few years back and figured that it would eventually turn up....but, it hasn't. I would like something similar. It was brass and made in switzerland, but if you have something that's made anywhere but Asia, I may be interested.

Please Email my website if you have something.

    Thanks for looking.

I've got one of those metal compasses. I think it has a flip-up sight on it so you can really align yourself. It's about 2.5" to 3" in diameter as I recall. I'll have to dig it out and get back to you. I'm not sure where it was made, but maybe it will say on the compass.

Well, I found the compass. It's a Lensatic Compass. It's a metal case and is 2" in diameter. Here is the bad news. It was made in Taiwan.

    Tron,

I found one on the internet at Wal Mart for $12 that looks just like the one I've got. I tried to post a link to it, but somehow my tool bar is messed up and won't let me post the link. I'll try to get that fixed.

here is the type I use, look at the date inside the cover, that is the date of the TRITIUM, most are good for 5 years (military use), but for everyday use it will not matter...the older the date the cheaper it should be....$30 tp $40 is about right... PS the TRITIUM has no affect on True North....LOL.... around here a lot of gun shows have them...Grubby

Suunto makes great, easy to use compasses. Bruntons are bulkier (and costlier) and designed more for geologic work, but they're top drawer too. Just my opinion, but I've worked with some of the Brunton knock-offs and they're every bit as good or better.

Tron, you might find this website of interest. Put up by a talented So-California desert rider who knows how to orient:

Tron, from an old USGS field man and a very satisfied customer, take the Bruning and smile the rest of your life. It will always get you home. The other good one is a K&E prismatic, but they are a little bigger.

TRON is the Chief TROLL.. On a trap shooting site he wants info on a cheap-ass brass compass.

    >570 of us look at the dumb site! Some even find and send pictures of an item sold in every WAL-MART, sporting goods or outdoor store. Not to mention the internet. As if it was a hard to find item.

    TRON is the best.
