    Guy at skeet range wants a not real good trapdoor rifle or carbine. Wants just a shooter. Let me know what you have. Thanks

    I'm going to a friend's gunshop tomorrow who has an 1873 rifle for, I think, $499. I'll check he bore, as I assume you want a good bore.

    OK, I checked out the gun yesterday.

    The exterior looks good. The bore has rifling, but it is worn and there are some pits. I would say that it could be shot with blackpowder or mild smokeless loads with lead bullets at close range targets, but for long range accuracy, forget it. The bore almost puts it into the wall hanger realm.
