1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

Hard to beat a BT99 Micro. The Beretta 3901 RL is another good choice if doubles is going to be shot.

Hard to beat the old standby 870 Remington. Youth stocks are readily available as are just about any barrel configuration that you may want. That would be about the lowest cost route that I know of and still have a safe dependable quality firearm.

About $4000 for a used Perazzi should make an excellent inexpensive trapgun...

For a beginners gun... You can't go wrong with an 1100 or an 1187. You say price is a concern or I would have included the Beretta family of semi auto trap guns but they run a good bit more on the used market. The gas operation of a semi auto sucks up a lot of the recoil and that is key to a new shooter. The semi auto also allows the new shooter to learn all trap games without having to cycle the action on a pump gun. You don't want them shooting an 870 or a Model 12 out of the gate and getting the snot kicked out of them. One ounce loads are also a good idea.

I'd say best bet would be a Remington 870 pump or a 1100 auto loader. Both are inexpensive and good guns for a second shot. The autos are better for two. Both are fine shotguns and will last a lifetime if care for. Parts are inexpensive and sold almost anywhere. There are many aftermarket stocks for youth, and a few shooters here may have a standard stock cut already and for sale if you ask. Do try to get one with chokes so he/she can play and try all the different clay target games. Good Luck and Break-em all. Jeff

    A good gun for a rookie will be a rem 1100 or a B auto 390 391.

Why let your kid get the snot knocked out of em with an 870.

My kid was lucky enuff to try em all and now hates 870's

He is shootin an Super X1 now.
