I would like a set of checkering tools. Yeah, I know that I can get them from Brownell's, but I thought that I'd check here first.

Tron do you have any places that specialize in wood carving? There is a place in Dayton that is called Woodcrafter's, they are a speciality wood shop. I think they are in your area. I carve stocks for S & W hope this helps. Thanks Larry

Bronnell's sells a couple of types. Both are OK to start with but you'll need a power unit at some time to be any good and reduce time. You will also need a checkering cradle (universal, sit down type prefered). It takes a lot of practice, but its kind of fun once you learn how.

    Tron...

Dem-Bart Hand Tool Co. is about 5 miles from my house. They make more checkering tools than all other companies combined. See what you want and email me a list and I will see what they will cost you here at the plant.

    Tron,
I have a good book by master carver Monty Kennedy that might help you in your
quest. It's called Checkering & Carving Gunstocks. Lots of photos and page after page of patterns. $25. 336 pages. Ben

Tron try this place. In my opinion they have the best tools, and they carry a right or left handed electric checkering tool. Gabe
