1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

Vern, the 6.8spc is based on the .30 Remington, but in addition to being necked down, it was also shortened, a lot (.329"). Can't fire-form 6.8 back to .30 Rem., but brass is available.

The .35 Remington and .30 Remington are different cases. The .35 Remington was designed by John Browning. It uses non-standard head size of .457" which is larger than the .30 Remington and smaller than the 30-06. I reload for the .35 Remington and the cartridge uses the same shell holder as the 6.5x52mm Mannlicher-Carcano.

The old 25 Remington and 30 Remington shared the same cases.

Hey Vern, I believe they also took most of the taper out of the case, which means it probably means it wouldn't fit very far into the 30 Rem chamber either. The case head, as you mentioned, and base diameter, is about all the 6.8 has in common with the original 30 Rem now. Still it's a neat little cartridge. Several cool wildcats have been based off the 6.8, i.e., 6mm/6.8, and 6.5mm/6.8.

Yeah, Mike, it's different. Based on the 284 Winchester.

thanks guys.. I'd never seen one in real life... I was kind of thinking the AR was Automatic Remington and they were pulling the 244 Remington/6mm Remington switch..

I think, with a little work, you might be able to turn 30-30 rims down, cut an extractor groove and have the same thing. The loading manuals from my day listed them as ballistically interchangeable and the pix and dimensions look very similar.

I'd be careful about cutting the extractor groove and make sure there is plenty of web thickness.

I had an old Rem pump in 30Rem and it was a fun gun to shoot, nor more, no less accurate than the 30-30 and, if the tables are right, about the same on game...biggest thing I ever shot was a woodchuck.

Savage99Stan, A little beyond my capabilities, but thanks. Between the 100 I have now and the dies that came with the gun I should be able to function pretty well. Thanks everyone.
