For those interested, The Belleville News Democrat has a front page article today (11-22) about a study on the financial side of the WSRC. As admitted in the article there are flaws in this study, however, it does point out some good & bad points about the facility. Read it & form your own opinions. Just thought I would bring this up for those not from this area that may find some interest in this. The web site is www.bnd.com. Colonel

"State Rep. Dan Reitz, D-Steeleville, said the report is in direct contrast with figures from the Southwestern Illinois Tourism Bureau, which has reported the complex generated more than $15 million this year in economic effects through major events alone."

Yeah.....the Sparta Motel alone has seen $187 in increased revenue over that period and the Popeye museum in Chester has sold over nine (9) Wimpy Hamburger masks!!!!

How about a thread where only unbiased comments are welcome. This pretty well eliminates me from posting on either the WSRC or the Cardinal Center. How about the majority of the rest of you??

The all important part of that absolutely worthless artricle is the State of Illinois disagrees with the figures gathered by the independent firm. This means no plans of pulling the plug by them. :)

Wait a minute here! While our Fed deficit has quadroupled in two years this place has fell short of a $25 mil expense by $1.5 mil!! The person who wrote the article said she left out figures like hotel tax and revenues to surrounding municipalities! That makes part of the $1.5 mil. Looks to me like the Sparta bunch needs to give lessons!!

Here's a novel idea. How about the State of Ill get rid of bums like Blogo and Obummer and the Daley crowd and start a youth shooting program in the schools and send them to Sparta to shoot at something other than EACH OTHER!!

There is no end to the left slant on anything productive!

Game Wardens and Conservation Workers are two completely different occupations in the State of Illinois. There is no Game Warden stationed are employed at the WSRC in Sparta, IL. There is County IDNR Officers who patrol it occasionally and are posted during the Grand. All Game Wardens are State Game Officers posted to Counties.
