OK, How is this one for you. My wife was 9 months pregnant. She was scheduled for induction because she was past her due date. My Father in law came up to watch our 4 year old. We left at 2pm. My FIL took our son to the playground and to dinner. There returned at 7pm. No big deal. Right. Well my wife delivered a healthy 7 pound 5 oz boy at 1045 pm the same day. By the time she was done in delivery and got checked into her post partum floor and I got her settled in it was 2:30 am. My FIL had to work so I had to get home to take care of my son. So I got home at 3am talked to my FIL for a minute and then he told me we had a little problem. The problem was a waterline to a toliet broke while we were out and it flooded your finished basement. Well the long and short of it was there was 1/2- 1" of standing water and carpet and drywall was saturated. about $2K in colelctable out of print books are ruined, my TV, Stereo, sectional sofa etc. Toast. Thank god the water didn't get high enough to damage any of my guns. We were able to squeege and get most water out. We then laid towels down to soat up as much as possible. THe next morning I called a flood restoration specialist to come and remove the drywall and carpet etc. My wife and newborn got to come home to a flooded house and the sound of 8 air movers and 2 commercial dehumidifers that will be running for 4 days. What a way to start.....
