Anyone know what those fittings are in the exhaust headers? Thermocouples for exhaust temp maybe.

First time in years I wont be doing the winters, cutting back the schedule with fuel prices. It may not be a good year for drag racing, Nitro prices are going sky high and new rules for transporting and storage are going to reek havoc with most teams, They are figuring there may only be 12 car fields by the end of the season due to nitro costs and rules.Heres a link above for a story on it if your interested.

I would root for Robert BUT he races against my wife's cousin (actually second cousin) "Fast Jack Beckman". But I am looking forward to the upcoming season and maybe I'll make it to Brainard again this year.

Saw John Force on the tube last night. He said he has been back in the car and ran a couple mid 4 second runs at 300 plus. His arm was still bandaged as was his lower leg and ankle. But, In his words, he's ready to race, not ready to retire and he can't wait for the season to start.......Dan Thome (Trap2)

I was lucky enough to take in the testing at Phoenix two weeks ago I talked to Robert and he is ready for the up coming year. It will be nice to see the new Ford motor do good.
Kelly I think you are right. As the season moves on I think you will see a field of 12. Trevor Dawe.

Thanks Kelly. I thought they might be. I've used them on two stroke outboards before. Two strokers tend to be quite temp critical as you approach the max power area of the fuel curve. Never tried them on a four stroke.

Nitro is running $23 a gallon now it was $17 last year, unfortunately the racers are stuck buying from VP since they are the exclusive fuel supplier, There was a chinese supplier at a substantially cheaper price, but nhra and VP fixed that for the racers driving theyre costs up even more. I dont know how these guys can afford to race, even with big money sponsors. Evan Knoll pulled his sponsorship for all teams this year which cut the fuel classes a ton, guys went and bought new cars and haulers plus parts only to have the plug pulled on them, some pretty big names are sitting on the sidelines looking for money to race.

I'm with you, Ed. The season starts here in CA soon. It's nice to see Kings Speedway back in action. All of you central valley dirt fans come on out to Hanford and support the King of dirt tracks!

Glad to see Drag racing up and going again for the year.

The deal with Evan Knoll has taken a toll on a lot of racers. I heard it was because of health concerns. I don't if there is any truth to that though.

One of my buddies at work was telling me about Force and his practice times from a couple of weeks ago. I was glad to see the old man back behind the wheel!

I guess I'll have to wait until Gainsville to see the bikes. I don't know how that'll be this year though.

Good luck to all the racers and lets hope it is a safe year!

Wait a minute here. With all of the threads posted on here with comments about how NASCAR is vanilla, the cars are all the same, the racing sucks, they're killing the sport, etc., etc., you're telling me that the #1, Ford sponsored top-fool nitro funny car driven by Mr. John Force has a Mopar made engine in it? Oh please, do tell!

Are you certain that it's not just a Ford engine with aftermarket hemispherical heads? I understand that there is not 1 factory made part on those engines. But I figured that they at least followed a Ford design, GM design, Mopar design, etc.

Force has a ford hemi Autin Coil and ford designed, Mike Neff is running it in the 4th car. Once they get the bugs worked out the whole team will be running them. Nothing on a fuel motor is dodge, chrysler or anything to do with mopar anymore. Brad Anderson,Rodeck, and Keith Black were the only suppliers for fuel blocks allowed untill force and ford designed this one.

After drag racing bikes for 20 years I`ve been very very displeased with the way the NHRA did suzuki/kawasaki. Both supported NHRA pro stock racing LONG before harley decided to use it as a marketing tool. With one (well in the end several swipes with the pin) the NHRA ruined pro stock bike racing. Giving the twins EVERY inheard of advantage including fuel injection, unlimited cc`s and approved virtually any and all designs anyone threw up to them. Look at the field now. Is there a suzuki even racing this year? They`re fools if they are.

Take a look at the harley show rooms. They`re full. Suzuki and Kawasaki supported the NHRA when times were bad. Motorcycles is only a small portion of thier comapany portfolio. Its all harley has. The image bust is here to stay this time. 20 K for a 1950 motorcycle has become reality and its come home to roost. To bad the NHRA decided to stab loyal supporters in the back for the quick buck. They won`t ever get a cent of my money again.

A quick read of the AMA flat track mess of the 80`s with harley should be a good eye opener to past history coming true again with harley needing help in competeing. it ruined that sport and will this one too...

Bill, I did not mean to say that John was using the new Ford motor. One of his team cars is in fact using the new Ford motor and like Kelly said once they get the bugs worked out the all four cars will be using the Ford motor.Trevor Dawe.
