Today was bright and sunny and Hot at Fennville Rod & Gun but the heat didnt keep the shooters away a pretty big turnout for this Memorial Day 2012 and a really nice way to remember our fallen Heroes together with friends enjoying a sport we would not have the opportunity to participate in if it wasnt for our Military past and present , each and eveyone of us either has family or know of a friends family or even just a neighbor down the street that has lost a love one over the years in the military ,i know i speak for all of us in the WMCC when i say a prayer for the fallen Heroes and and a Big Thank You to all the Soldiers past and present for your service to beable to live in a free country and beable to enjoy this sport!! ,so today started off at 10:00am with protections 10 in all i think maybe more with the scores as always pretty tight ,heck i even won a shootoff in one then came the signup deadline for the first Calcutta ,today we had 2-75 birders one draw, one pick and as always lunch was right on time at 12:30 with porklion ,and boneless chicken breast done just right on a open pit charcoal grill the best way ever to grill and served with baked beans ,potato salad , deviled eggs ,rolls and desserts ,im not sure if we all come for the shooting or the lunches that these clubs provide for us in the WMCC they are always very much appreciated and a big Thank you goes out to Quincy and Lavina Dunlap for all there hard work feeding us and also to all the other volunteers at FRGC for always having a great shoot and a nice clean top notch air conditioned clubhouse for all of us the enjoy ,now lets see a few pics from today before we see the results of the first calcutta....

As you can see bright and sunny and full squads today and always good targets at fennville (well unless you ask Matt but more on that later )
And here in the cheering section we have in the background we have Brian & Mike E. and sitting from left to right Mick Yonkers ,Tom Bennett,Gary M., Zeek Seekman, and Rick Ski watching the action today in the heat ,oh and speaking of Rick Ski ...
Here is a pic of Rick after a morning of carrying Matt in the protections i was witness he was a heavy load , so much so he changed weapons today for something he maybe could hit something with ...
Here is matt with his first weapon of choice and this is his reaction to when i asked how he did in the protection and in the background you see Daddy Rick heading to the truck for more backup shells
    [IMG]

And his second weapon of choice his Ping MX10 super driver which from what i seen in the protections im sure he would of hit more targets with and not been such load for Daddy to carry ,i think his motivation to shoot today was demonished a little because his big brother Steve VVSki was a no show ...
Although his other stepbrothers showed up B-ROD A.K.A Billy Rodriguez & Todd Delp (hey Matt you do know Todd has a shoot named after him at Mason Right)
And today we had Kevin Brouard stop by to shoot we havent seen him in awhile
    [IMG]
And here we have from left to right Ron H.,Gary M. anf John S. watching the action probaly planning there stratgy for the calcutta..now lets see the board for the first Calcutta
    [IMG]

today in the first 75 birder we had 21 teams with one team winning first place outright with a score of 73 Don Stevens and Bob Richmond good shooting guys and in second 4 teams at 72 and Dan VH and Cuck E. winning the shootoff and third 3 teams tied at 71 and Scott Essenburg and Buck Roberts winning and in 4th 2 teams at 70 and they split Matt Ski and Tom Bouma & Phil and Kevin Brouard and in 5th 2 teams tied and Billy Rodriguez and Bruce Snyder winning the shootoff great shooting by everybody today in this heat ,now a few more pics from today before i end this ..
Here is Tom's reaction to when he heard he got picked with Matt in the first Calcutta im not sure if its a thank you jesus or a why me lord expression !!
And Scooby Doo & Shaggy a.k.a. Anthony Seekman and Perry Moore honing there skills practicing for the calcutta..
And Matt Ski showing us the only thing i can guess is that Hank only missed 2 targets all day ....
And here we have 2 of the three trappers we had today and owe a lot of thanks too Eric Yonkers and Bre Leeuw and not pictured is Joey Kiss thank you for a great job today in this heat ,and i know what your thinking Eric's not working very hard right now it just looks like he is bothering Bre(haha) but honest he is one of the best around ..
And here we have Tom Bennett and Bruce Snyder in yet another Shootoff today they were shooting well together today..
And Tom again shooting with Quincy Dunlap in the first calcutta ..now a few pics from the clubhouse before i end this..

As you can see everybody relaxing in the cool air of the clubhouse between rounds it was a much needed relief from the heat today ...
Ok ill end this for now with a picture of good friends Gary M. and Randy Hook with the expression that says it all for today, a smile ,a testiment to Fennville Rod & Gun and the people of the WMCC its easy to put a smile on your face with such great places to shoot and great people to hang around with , thank you FRGC and all the volunteers for another great shoot and the second board to be added later by Eric and rumor has it Matt & Rick shot a 75 straight Boy Rick i bet you were so wore out you slep all the way home ..

Great reporting as usual Doug! Can't thank you enough for your efforts to promote the clubs and shooters of the WMCC circuit.

Also linked above are additional photos from the day taken by Dan Johnson! Thanks to Dan for his dedication of taking pictures, editing them, and posting them to our website!

Since Doug had to sneak out early, here are the results from the second calcutta.
