Setting by the fire, 3 fingers of my favorite and thinking about the great shoots to be and the great shoots past...Enjoyed some great eats at:
Darbs...Downtown Mason everyday after the Michigan State Shoot. Perch from a nearby Lake..
NickelPlate...Fishers In, just down the road from Fortville and the Indiana State shoot...outstanding Hoosier favorite Tenderloin...
So, on this winter night, where are your favorite spots and the menu there???

New place for the Thurmont crowd. Rube's Crab House on North Seaton in Emmitsburg. World class cream of crab, and when Robin gets the in the mood, her fabulous Chili. Hard shells to perfection and oysters on the half shell for $9.95.

    all the best.....mike

At the old Grand in Dayton I used to stay in Englewood at the Hampton Inn. There was a place down the street within walking distance called Bolt's Sports Bar. It was a sports bar but they had some good food. Pan fried Walleye,etc.. Then there was the Buckhorn. Every year a group of about 20 or more would make a yearly apperance there. Linn Creek in Missouri has some nice places but I can't remember the names. 10 or 15 years ago a bunch of us would hit the "New Orleans House" in Indy during the Indiana State Shoot. Is it still around? Camster, I haven't heard of the Nicleplate in Fishers. Maybe I'll try it next July.

Bisi: Sadly the New Orleans House closed years ago. But if you like Sea food, try Kona Jacks or right next t door Daddy jacks, great neighborhood bar, (96th & Meridian). Nickel Plate is in Fishers on 116th East of I-69 about 3 blocks. Great little local bar.

Indycamster, thanks, I'll have to try that Nicle Plate. Doesn't sound like it is too far from the place I've stayed the last couple of years. Motel 6 extended stay in Fishers just east of I69. I think it is on 96th street. A lot of good places in Naptown to hit up.

    Merry Christmas

I've shot the ATA shoots the last few months at the Coastal Rifle and Pistol Club (new traps) in Gulfport Mississippi, and they serve a great lunch. The barbecued beans are outstanding. I don't know who makes them but they ore grrrrreeeaaat!

Phil Schmidts Hammond Ind ( now closed) for Frog Legs on the way back from The lower Michigan shoots. The frog legs were exquisite and all you could eat. It was a must stop when coming home from the Michigan shoots or a Chicago trip

Here in New England... obviously... it would be an nice bowl of Clam Chowda', white or clear and washed down with a bottle of Boston Lager or Two Roads Brewery IPA. Oh yah.... and Oyster Crackers and real crumbled BACON on the top of the chowda.

Can it get better than this.... ?

Tuff to PULL yourself away from the table I recon.

That neat old bar in downtown Mason. Can't think of the name, but great imported beer on tap and a bleu cheese and bacon giant burger to die for. [and young waitresses with really big......eyes.] Bill

I almost forgot this one. Captain Bennys Seafood just outside of Huston on way back from San Antonio. The oysters are to die for but lots of seafood to choose from.
