    Friends,

    I have the opportunity to have a new stock built this spring and for the fist time considering the wide variety of wood options available. I thought it might be fun to post a thread and see what *you* consider the nicest wood / stocks you have seen. These can either be finished stocks or wood blanks you've found on this forum, elsewhere on the internet, or personally own / have seen. Post some wood porn pictures for us to admire!

    After looking at the amazing wood on those guns, I'm almost ashamed to show mine; but it's a 10 yr old utility gun with 1/4 of a million targets behind it. Kolar MaxTA 3 barrel set. It's English walnut, Jeff Mainland made it.

    Some Model 12 Wood, 1st Gun is a 1959 26" WS-1 3 Pin VR 20 Ga Skeet gun; 2nd is a 1942 30" FULL 2 Pin VR 12 Ga Trap Grade (fitted with a replacement pad as not to destroy the original) and the third is a 1950 26" WS-1 2 Pin VR 12 Ga Skeet Gun.     After almost 40 years of whittling stocks, this is the last I'll do.

    Different strokes for different folks, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, etc, etc. I like a moderate amount of figure I highly value balance. This California English blank was so close to "center cut" that there is a bullseye on the grip. I examined pics of a half dozen similar blanks from Cecil fredi before settling on this one....
