I was recently shooting in very windy conditions. Other than the targets swooping all over the place, I was wondering if wind has any effect on the shot. Does it? Any idea how much? Just curious. Even knowing, I wouldn't have shot any better.

Wow, I'd imagine substantially less than that target moving around....Ones an aerodynamic disc of sorts, the other, a bunch of round balls banging into each other...the wind will play all sorts of things to the disc, but, probably only reduce, or increase slightly the velocity of the shot.

I'm sure the engineers, real, and imagined, will be on soon!! lol

Since the disc is spinning the gyroscopic effect gives it more aero dynamic stability than the shot. HMB

HMB---You are confident that the individual shot balls are not spinning in a so-called gyroscopic manner?---Matt

Yes. Bullets spin because the barrel they are shot from have rifling which imparts spin to the bullet. Shot is fired from a smooth bore barrel(no rifling). The effect of the wind is directly proportional to the time of flight. HMB

I know from setting sporting clays courses, birds traveling at 67 fps or less, move around a whole lot more in the wind than the shot traveling at 1200 fps or somewhat less for the 40-50 yards effective range...
