Our club has a winchester automatic trap(holds 170 targets)Machine "doubles"drops two targets instead of one and of course jams. The rubber cushions are old,but have no flat spots .The cushion springs have also been replaced. The machine drops two targets three or four times in a round of trap which makes it unusable. The club has paid for repairs on two occasions, but it remains the same.We need some ideas on how to get this machine back on line.

Check that the lifter plate is supporting the target as the target is released from the stack, there are different spring strengths for the lifter plate. THe push rod might need to be shortened a little, try 1/4 turn at a time, you will need 2 7/16" open end wrenchs to adjust.

Push rod needs adjustment as stated above . Good idea to replace the cushions also or at least turn them 180* so there are no flat spots that make contact with the targets .

We used to have one of these at our club. After you adjust the push rod. Make sure you empty the machine out after each use. It will make the cushions last nearly forever!

Bob , they don`t have to empty the tray just lift the targets up above the rubber and they should stay there without compression on the rubber cushion . Then when they start up the next time just open the lever and let the column of targets dowm gently . That is what we did when closing for the day at our club . WE sold all of them and bought Super Stars . Yes the rubbers would last forever and without the flat spots too .

You're probably talking about the 1577, 1582 or 1583. Put on all new black rubbers snubbers ... they get old and hard. They hold the target from dropping.

    They get old and hard.

I's a 1577 and I'll get a new set of rubber for it if you can suggest a source for parts.

Thanks for the "Lift up the targets" idea....so simple, yet a good thought. Now.....if I can just get all the Committee guys to DO it!

Yes it was too much work emptying the tray as we were told to do years ago so just lifting up the targets in each stack seemed to make the end of day shorter plus starting the next day . Just take a few targets off each stack before you lift them or you`ll have a mess of broken birds if they topple over .
