last spring I was able to get w209 primers through the gun club for $28 per 1000. I was at a local gun show yesterday and the dealer there was asking $34 per 1000. Does anyone know if primers have gone up in price that much? Also, if someone has bought any of these from Guns Unlimited lately, I would like to know what GU is asking for them. If the price of primers have gone up that much, I'll go back to the show today and pickup a few thousand.

    thanks,

In my neck of the woods, $170 per 5000 is the going rate. Thats the reason I (and most of my clubs members) have switched to NobleSports, $108 per 5000 and direct replacement for Win's. On my third sleeve, so far not one problem.

Grafs is selling Cheddite 209s for $130 / 5000 with NO HazMat if you buy 10,000. Great primers...have used a bunch over the least few years!

I've only used Winchester W209s, what's best cheaper alternative primer?

I reload Remington Gun Clubs, 90% of the time.

I just checked prices. Guns Unlimited was 150 for 5000; Roger Brenner was 140 for 5000.

I thought that Winchester 209's were $164 when I was in there yesterday. They went up $20 a little over a month ago. You probably won't find them much cheaper than that. Neil Swenson

Thanks Neil, that's the same price as at the Fremont and Millard gun shows.

I don't know if GU's school discount applies to primers, but if so; given my Son's school trapshooting discount, maybe I should go buy enough to reload the 5000 or so rounds my two Son's will need for next trap season.

I've got enough hulls and perhaps enough powder, but I was hoping shot prices would drop and wasn't even looking at primer prices.

Check Connies Components web site. There web site currently has 4 cases of 616 for $424 including hazmat shipping charge. Only 99 a case if you pick them up. Wish I was closer to Washington.

Went to GUs yesterday and W209s- $35 per thousand and shot at $33.50 per bag.

That's about a 20% increase in both over the past 6 months.

That's nuts. I guess I'll just wait to load up.

Sorry for the delay. He is a components supplier in NW Ohio. I believe he and his son attend the big shoots in Ohio and Michigan. I think he is frequently at the
cardinal Center. Very nice folks to deal with; always has the best prices. I just bought primers for 140 and win 1 oz pink wads for 95 (for 5000)from him on the 27 of this month. Guns unlimited must have just gone up from 150 for 5000 win 209's; I called them also because my kid lives in Omaha and can pick up supplies for me.

Last week I bought Fiocci 616 (209 size) primers for $18.99/1k at Fin, Feather & Fur in Ashland, Ohio (Exit 185 on I-71). They also have .22 LR Blazer or Federal for $13.99 (pkg. of 525). Not a bad deal. I've used these primers for a couple of years with no punch throughs nor any misfires. Just keep in mind the size of these primers about .002" larger so once you reload then don't switch to another brand as the primer pockets will be oversized. BT-100dc

I used to shoot only Win 209's. I still have 15K of the old primers. When I got back into shooting about 2 years ago I started shoting my old Win 209's and not one has failed. I bought 5K of the new Win Primers and have had several failures.

Someone gave me 1K Cheddites to try. They are the same size as Win 209's. I shot about 900 with no problems. I then Chrono'd about 50 with my load and the velocity was the same. I called Allient Powder and they told me Cheddite 209's were the sama as Win. 209's

I have now shot about 10K Cheddite 209's and not 1 problem. Needless to say I have switched to Cheddites.

The best part is they are cheaper.
