I just bought an 8# keg of Winchester Superlite. Has anyone ever used this powder for weenie 3/4 or 1 oz loads? If so, would you share your recipe? I couldn't find anything on Hogdon's or Winchester's website and the older Winchester manuals I have, list all relatively fast loads for this powder, 1290 pfs for the 1 oz loads and 1325 and up for the 3/4 oz loads. I'm looking for something in the 1200 to 1250 fps range. Thanx for the input.

    Hoosier Daddy,
Thanx for the info. A friend of mine got a deal on 6 8#'s so I took one off his hands. I haven't loaded Winchester powder in years. If I can find the right recipe I might take a few more off his hands. Is this a light shooting powder or I should expect to get kicked like a rented mule?

The load for 3/4 oz was listed at 20gr for 1325 fps according to the old winchester manual I had. I loaded up a few shells at 19gr prior to reading your post. I figure that should take off about 75 fps and get me somewhere around 1250, I'll chrono them over the weekend. Joe B.

Ajax and TjayE. Thanx for the info, I think if I stay in the 18 to 19 gr range, even with the hotter RIO's I should be good. I'll be shooting some of the 19 grain loads this weekend I'll let you know how they work out? Joe B.

These where loaded in AA hulls. When I ran out of AA hulls I switched to STS with TGT12 wads and 10z shot. These are the following I used for remaining powder. No one locally has this powder so I am useing clays. My wife will now ahoot anything I hand her.Lead Shot 12 1 1 oz. WAALite Win. 209 J-XL-1 14.7 9,000 PSI 1125
    Lead Shot 12 1 1 oz. WAALite Win. 209 Rem. TGT 12 12.4 5,700 PSI 970
    Lead Shot 12 1 1 oz. WAALite Win. 209 Rem. TGT 12 13.3 6,700 PSI 1025
    Lead Shot 12 1 1 oz. WAALite Win. 209 Rem. TGT 12 14 7,500 PSI 1070
    Lead Shot 12 1 1 oz. WAALite Win. 209 Rem. TGT 12 14.9 8,500 PSI 1125

I have an actual Winchester loading manual. You can send me a business size SASE & I will copy the relevent pages. Call me at 406 821-3215 later this afternoon for the address. I will also give you some starting loads over the phone. I would put them here but there are a lot of loads, pressures & velocity.

    rcnuti and RunGunIPSC,
Thanx, I have a copy of Winchester's 15th edition, I was looking for a recipe that was a tad bit slower than listed in the manual.

Gentlemen thanx for the info. I shot the 7/8 oz loads today and they absolutely crushed targets when I did my job. It was cold and windy today, but managed to draw alotttt of smoke. I've settled on 7/8 oz of 8s, winchester aa or remington sts hulls, claybuster waa12l replacements wads, rio primers and 19gr of superlite.
There wasn't any noticable recoil either, I didn't get to chrono them. Missed 4 birds out of 100 and the ones that were missed, I wouldn't have hit with 2 oz of shot, thanx again. Joe B.

    Mengwe,
I'll give your email address to my bud, and if he wants to part with it, you two can work it out. I know that I'll be taking at least one more keg off his hands.
