winchester primers/auto primer feed warning

    Just looking around doing some reasearch before the 4th parade. Winchester warns against useing primers in primer feed system?

    If you put the URL in line WEBSITE URL: it will provide a direct link rather than having to copy & paste.

    Here's the quote from the Winchester site:

    "WARNING - Primers may explode if subjected to impact, shock, or intense heat. Store in original factory container only. Primers in bulk are capable of mass explosion. Do not use primer feed devices for reloading."

    OK so droping the primer down through a auto feed is dangerous, but pressing a metal rod down onto the primer onto a metal surface is ok.

    same as Glock says not to shoot reloads can blow up gun but what make the difference they dont shoot straight anyway federal will do the same soon

    I think that is a leftover from the days when a primer feed was a tube that you stacked primers in for loading. I knew someone that personally experienced the effects of less than a half a tube full going off (about 30 primers). He said he had to throw out his undershorts. There were no injuries, except to his ego. The way most shotshell presses feed primers today is a bit better than they used to be. At least if one goes off, the others are not over or under it in line.
