What wad does a paper winchester hull take? Straight or tapered?

    Thanks

All Federal cases take a straight wall wad. 12s3 is the wad for 1 1/8 oz. 12so is the 1 oz.

10-4 on the shorter red W/W wad or clone. These hulls load very nice one maybe two times before the high base wad fails..inspect them carefully. I have a 1 1/8 oz load with Green Dot that works well...you will need a smooth crimp starter to get a nice final crimp.

If you still can find a shell waxer you can get 5 maybe six loads out of those Winchester papers. Red Dot and 700X burn them out very quickly, use PB or 7625 and you can make 6 loads with them if they are re waxed before each loading.

If they have the high base wad in them, the base wad will fold over if loaded on a MEC and cause the primer hole to close and you can have misfires.
