How do you tell old style from new style hulls. Sorting latest batch have some AA hulls both gray and red some with AA some AA with outline around the AA others with AA with solid line below AA?

If you're looking at fired hulls, the new ones have a white, base wad inside.

The new ones are glossier looking and have a shiny, smooth exterior. The older ones have a somewhat duller red coloring compared to the new ones and the print is different.

When you look at an old one compared to a new one side by side, you'll be able to tell them apart if mixed together in a pile of them from 20 feet away.

New red ones are shiny. New gray ones are charcoal color. If in doubt stick a little screwdriver in and feel if a biscuit is inside.

    Duh.

Look inside with a light and you can see the new style base wad VS the one piece older design of the compression formed hull. If you put an old and a new next to each other, the new style has a different look to it. The old style looks a bit dull next to the new ones and the new Grays are indeed charcoal colored and shiny.

1911, Your pix's are of the new type hulls. As said above the new ones are brighter in color and the next biggest difference of hulls of all ga's are that the AA letters are inside a four sided square. This is never wrong. Now you know. Good Luck. Break-em all. Jeff
