Wondering if anyone knows where I can get a box or 2 of 140 gr. fail safe ammunition for a 270 winchester? From what I hear they stopped making them and they really shot good out of my gun. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ryan

Winchester still list it on their web site ... http://www.winchester.com/products/catalog/cfrdetail.aspx?symbol=S270X&cart=MjcwIFdpbmNoZXN0ZXI=&type=33

Your Winchester dealer should be able to order it (Product Symbol: S270X), but you might have to take a case of 200 shells. Bill Malcolm

Thanks for the help but, my winchester dealer said no go. All the websites that say they have some then say out of stock when you go to add them to your cart.

I tried to buy some Fail Safe ammo for my 7MM and the dealer told me it was discontinued because because of bad press something about armor piercing. I thought it was great ammo in 7MM and I retrieved 3 bullets with classic mushroom shape from 3 large deer. Is 130 gr Rem CoreLokt in 270 enough bullet for Cow Elk or should I get 150 gr something else ??

Why not go with Winchester's 140 g Accubond .270 load? You will probably find it to be a better shooting bullet that performs better than the failsafe. Remington and Hornady also offer premium .270 ammo with 140 gr bullets.

I was once told by an old timer that the .270 caliber was designed to be most effective with a 130 grain bullet. This old gent was one hell of a marksman...and therefore I only shoot 130 grain bullets through my .270 My bullet of choice is the Winchester Supreme Silvertips. These make a hole that is extremely nasty. JMHO.
