    Why We Can

This is a short but to the point video of why we can't balance the budget.

    Catch this @ ZH?

"If the US government cut all government services except Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and interest payments, federal spending would still outpace revenues. As we noted here, these four mandatory items dominate costs. All the arguing over sequestration and the fiscal cliff are moot since as Professor Antony Davis notes in this brief clip, there are no specific cuts that will enable government to balance the budget; in fact "nothing less than a complete redesign will solve the problem." That redesign begins with determing the proper role of government."

Let's take another look at that so-called "surplus" we used to hear so much about.

Well, gosh, it's just do darn obvious! You raise taxes, of course!

You citizens just fill out your order forms, listing what government services you want...then, the politicians, aided by a few "statesmanlike" Republicans, kick into action and simply allow the tax rate to "float" upward to whatever equilibrium level is needed to balance out your "needs."

Gee...that was so easy, wasn't it? Now the whole country can be just like California! (You just need to bulldoze those Teaparty extremists out of the way, with all their trumped-up faux angst about fiscal insolvency and stuff).

    (burp!) Next problem...

Central Bank (US Federal Reserve) is printing "funny money" to retire deficits...with no intention of ever getting paid back. It is all a big game...which will have terrible consequences that no one can predict. Just read the link above. The article is on the Bank of England.....but it's what Bernanke is doing too.

I feel sorry for everyone in the USA starting around 2030. It will be a complete 5hit 5how. A $100 bill in 2030 will be worth about what a $20 bill is worth today. There will be other currencies then....and the Dollar will be passed by for other mediums of international exchange that aren't gaming the system.

    Thanks Washington DC!

My guess it that they will raise the age of retirement to 70. Then raise Fica taxes. Cut back on Medicare and Medicade since Obummercare is about to come into effect.

He's right, the redesign to work is simple.Pass laws that eliminate pensions for all Congressmen.Make them invest their over paid salaries into 401 ks like the rest of us.Eliminate medical care for all Congressmen, make them use their over paid salaries to buy the same coverage they are trying to shove down the people's throats. As one has said, originally it was an Honor to serve the people in congress,it was never meant to be a paying job with pension and benefits.Take those two things awayand apply saved moneys towards deficit.Oh,this includes those already retired, just like they want to slash our senior citizens benefits, eliminate theirs also.

Besides, you can't balance the budget, if you haven't had one in three years. Charlie
