There are tons of dog breeds that were bred just for hunting, but why not cats? Cats are superior predators, have higher intelligence and have much keener senses. So, why no hunting Cat breed? I can not see any reason why there aren't any.

    Any thoughts??

Because the only way you can train them is with a 2X4! LOL.

Because once they tasted blood, they would turn on their owners in the still of the night!

Since we like to duck/goose hunt, we sure wish we could teach our cat to do this:

OK, like why not start out with one of the larger types, like maybe a Bob cat or Cheetah, then domesticate it to some extent and then through select breeding, come up with something about the size of a Labrador. You can then train it to retrieve somehow....this can also be done by select breeding, just like they do with dogs. No reason why not.

that's easy. when a man encounters a dog, he will naturally bend down onto a knee so that he can rub it behind both ears with both hands at the dogs level. however, when a man encounters a cat, he will naturally break open the action of his gun with one hand while reaching into his shell pouch with the other... good luck with it

They don't say that managing a tough group "is like herding cats" for nothing.

I'm thinking we put my Drahthaar and a cat in the back of pickup and see what happens.

Cathaar? That's probably all that would be left.

The Egyptians used cats for hunting. They still use Raptors.

The cheetah was once trained by humans for hunting purposes as long ago as 3,000 B.C.

    Tron,

You want to start with something like a cheetah? If your "trainee" turned on you, what would you rather have to tangle with? A pit bull or a cheetah?
