    Zara,

Congratulations on your new-found wisdom. It's just skeet with a trap gun. If you don't enjoy that, then it's a total waste of shells.

    Dear Buzz

Well said about skeet with a trap gun. I use a skeet/sporting barrel for dubs, and shoot much better scores. Chokes/loads are not critical. SK/LM to F/F works.
I like LM/IMOD, but generally screw in F/F.

    They ARE fun!

Doubles are truly enjoyable, and embarrassing when you miss the first shot. Shooting them with a slide gun is a hoot!

    Buzzgun,

The reference to skeet with a trap gun is genius! I hadn't thought of it that way before.

Zarathrusta your a big dork, when you get into the ATA some 15 years like me. You will find doubles is the only thing that keeps you around. One target at a time is just a big snoozer...........

I'd rather 'waste' shells on doubles than the other 2 events because its fun and you don't have time to think. Personally, I'd rather shoot doubles than singles or 'caps, anyday.

Look at the benefits, If your selling the hulls, you get twice as many and save your voice half the calls. You get to make an a** of your self and no one seems to notice because they are doing the same. Nothing like going thirty or forty straight and blowing a pair. Thinking again! Yep, thats the reason, or counting total back from the 100 and discovering your way over your head. Face it, IT'S FUN!

"Why do I waste time (and shells) on Doubles?"

I used to ask the same question. I finally justified doubles as 25 birds dead and 25 primers tested. Since I never had a primer failure during any of my test sessions, I have stopped that testing program altogether; my otherwise-disposable income has risen considerably.

Better question still, why do people continue to shoot when they know they cant win, they like to shoot.

Because they are the MOST fun you can have shooting! If I had to save money for some reason, doubles are the LAST game I would quit! Boring handiclap would go first.

Zara, I love shooting doubles as my 97% average shows. I hit 90% of the first ones and 7% of the second ones. LOL
