I think of George every time I head out Highway 96 from Franklin, TN to Murfreesbore, TN. There is a concrete bridge rail that shows where it has been repaired. George hit the end of it one night while going home. He had a beautiful home on out that way. One of the best country singers ever.

So sorry to hear this. He was one of the best country singers ever in my opinion. I have tons of his albums The King is gone and it is a very sad day. Everytime I hear his music I picture him riding his John Deere Mower to get a drink because Tammy hid all his vehicle keys LOL

Everytime I hear George Jones, I get a smile on my face and think about a couple of my old buddies. I had a couple of buddies going through a divorce in either the late 70s or early 80s, so they came around wanting me to go to the honky tonks with em. They were both okay guys till they had more than a few beers and George Jones came on the juke box. Then they would both get real depressed, drunk and crying sad. Even the ole barkeep who seen it all ask me where I found those clowns. LOL! He finally forbid anybody playing George Jones when they were in the bar.

    Rest in peace possum.

Who is going to fill their shoes? Certainly not the current bunch of phoney semi rock country singers. Very sad

His song "Choices" should be required listening for every young person.

Might save some of them from making mistakes that haunt them later in life.

How about George and Tammy singing " Someone I Used to Know". doesn't get a lot better than that one.
