Iowa has been playing for about three years with a very sub par quarterback. I don't want to knock the kids, but we always seem to face good QB's.

    ebsurveyor,

You bring up a good point...who sux worse, Penn State or USC?

Let Haux simmer down a while...I'm sure by 10AM Sunday morning, he'll be on here, telling us what "Woulda/Coulda/Shoulda" happened IF they hadn't lost their QB, etc.

Hey, what can I say. We plain sucked today.

Iowa made the most mistakes and Northwestern capitalized on them.

They'll be no highlights this week.

Our starting QB got knocked out of the game and it cost us. Don't think he'll be back next week for Ohio, so I doubt we can even come close to winning there.

Our backup QB, while highly recruited out of high school, really didn't show me to much today.

    It's just a game........

I think you might be a little hard on the back up qb there hauxfan. I can imagine the nerves, and adrenalin were running a little ragged for him today. I personally think he showed some promise myself, he's definately got a gun, just need to learn a little finesse with it. He was not the caliber of northwestern's back up, but he also has pretty much zero "big game" experience. Although a Hawk fan myself, they have defiantely been very lucky this season up to today, I just hope they can hang on for the conference title at least. Stanzi has never impressed me at the qb position, hardly mediocre at best, it's amazing they have done as well as they have this year with him at the helm.

Always love to see Notre Dame lose...that makes it automatically a great day. Especially when they get beat by Navy, even though I'm not much of a fan of Navy. (Uncle was the Special Teams coach for Army up until this year)

BPSR, You're probably right. He was thrown into the game with no experience to speak of.

He had thrown 3 passes up till yesterday, and that had to be against Iowa State, the only team we really blew out.

Our defense has won most of the games for us as far as I'm concerned. Even yesterday, it wasn't the defense's fault. Stanzi fumbled in the end zone for one of there TD's and threw an interception in our end of the field and they capitalized on that.

I have to agree, Stanzi isn't really all that great. He throws some stupid picks and into coverage more than he should.

I think we have been very lucky to win the first 9 games.

Hopefully, the coaches will work with Vandy this week and have him doing some things he can do well.

I really do like him as a QB, as he really set a lot of records coming out of High School. Just hope it carries over to his college career.

    Time will tell.

    Hauxfan!

Notre Dame getting beat by Navy just capped off a perfect day. Hell, the reason why ND puts those cup-cake teams in their schedule is supposed to be to BEAT them.

In listening to the TV announcers they suggested that the 2nd string QB probably only got about 25% to 35% of the practice snaps with the first team. The reality was that he had NEVER had any snaps with the first team. Probably because Stanzi was inconsistent and needed the work and because Iowa never got ahead of any team enough to let the kid play in a game situation. Our luck ran out. I think had Stanzi not gotten hurt Iowa would be 10-0 but only because Kafka was injured and couldn't run. Next week will be brutal unless the kid hooks up quickly with Iowas pass catchers. I doubt that will happen in such a short time though. Ohio State's offense has improved vastly since the season began.

Ditto on Notre Dame! They are not playing well @ all. Michigan has some problems, deep problems. Rodriguez was a great coach @ West Virginia, and I expect with time...he will turn Michigan around. Notre Dame really baffles me. Weis has had this team for awhile, and they don't show alot of improvement. I did believe that Penn State would play better than they did. Iowa has had a great run, and fell short. I believe that Alabama is the team to beat. Saban has put some fire in those kid's eyes.

Now, I know the world has gone mad. Even Buzzy rooting for a government trade school (Navy) to beat a private institution of higher learning, like Norte Dame. Madding!

I bet you guys were ecstatic last night when private healthcare got trump by national healthcare.
