Looking to get a carry piece and was leaning towards the Bersa 380. Was wondering what those who have one think of it and what they think of the round?

I think the 380 is the absolute minimun in power, and then you should choose premium ammo. I hope you life is worth more than a Bersa. The only one I had experience with was over 10 years ago and it was COMPLETE junk.

The new Hornady Critical Defence ammo is a big step in the right direction to making the .380 an effective pp carry round. Is it as good as a 9mm? No, but it sure in the heck is better than throwing a rock.

The Bersa 380 is a descent gun with no real bad habbits. Just take the time to shoot it and become proficient with the ammo/gun combination.

kel tec pioneered the lightweight polymer pocket .380 about 10 years ago. now everybody makes one. there is no need to tote around a steel gun anymore. good luck with it

Have a S&W Bodyguard 380. I like it but can't carry her in Illinois. Ditto the ammo suggestions.

What ever you get practice with it every chance you get until every facet of using it becomes second nature. This will also give you confidence in the ability of the gun to perform when needed. It is OK to practice mostly with the cheaper FMJ ammo but you should always finish by firing a clip or 2 of the load you will carry to make sure performance with it is 100%. I put a lot more rounds through my carry guns than any other pistols I own except for an old Ruger Standard 22 auto that I just love to plink with. Plus 2 on the Hornady Critical Defense in 380.

+1 for the P238. It is almost a direct copy of the Colt Mustang. Fits right in a pocket.
As for the .380 round, I brought my P238 to our regular Saturday morning steel plate shoot and it knocked the plates and heavy poppers down with authority. I wouldn't want to be standing in front of someone pointing a .380 at me!

I have a Bersa Thunder .380 acp. I used to cary it a lot until I discovered the Kahr CW-40. The Kahr is the same size as the Bersa (they fit in the same holster).

My Bersa Thunder is a good gun and has been totally reliable.

My biggest problem with the small .380 guns is that they are pretty uncomfortable to shoot a lot so I don't tend to get the practice I should. Same problem with the 9mm small guns. I ended up with a small 1911...Makes a bigger hole also, which I really like. And I shoot it a LOT.

I had a Bersa years ago, shot it a few times and the grips literally fell off. I felt it was junk and got rid of it. Cor-bon 380 ammo. Bulge.

I carry a double action Daewoo 380 with half cock.I use Federal Premium Hydra-Shok 90 gr. jacketed hollow point ammo. I practice with regular round nose. I make sure my ramp is well lubricated at all times.

Lookin for something lighter that I can put in my pocket. Probably Ruger's new ultra light hammerless in .357.
