I am talking patterns only, not ATA Target shooting.

For a tighter pattern shoot #6s 1 1/8th to 1 3/16ths to 1 1/4oz for Games shooting shells, At what ever speed you choose, it makes no difference the #6s will not blow pattern, have shot many over 1500fps w/Longshot for long shootoffs.

Longshot is one of the slowest burning powders out there, 1500fps and below 10,500psi using 1 1/8th oz shot. Load a half dozen of them and see for yourself.

Longshot, can you demonstrate that the concept of " blown patterns" even exists?

Gary, 1500+ loads have a nasty recoil. 1330 FPS work just as well without the nasty recoil.

Use magnetic steel shot, that will keep your pattern together. HMB

CE Burgess: that is not true, I don't shoot any loads that will have a blown pattern. #6 shot does not blow patterns. I have tested it numerous times over the years.

You would be suprised with the following Load.

This load is no longer in the loading manual:

    32.5 Grs of IMR-7626 powder in a STS hull Figure 8 wad 1 oz #5 shot 1500+fps
This shell is a fantastic load.

Gary, I have to agree that Longshot has some advantage..the load that works just right in my gun is 33 Gr. longshot, 1 1/4 oz Hard #6, An old Lage Uniwad in a Gun Club Case with a Winchester primer. Works great for those extra Looong shots in the Oakleys. Noisy and it kicks a bit but effective.
