Living in Pa, I have shot the Del, Md, and Pa state shoots. Now that work has me staying in Indiana I may have a chance to shoot one of the state shoots in this area. Between MI, IN and Ohio which one would you attend and why?

Go to the Ohio, because of the Cardinal Center, the best all around shooting location in the eastern states. Restaurants, hotels & a good prperly run shoot with enough vendors to make it wortwhile.

Ohio with out a doubt is #1 but make sure you give Indiana a strong consideration.

Indiana is a great shoot! Lot's of vendors, great food ($3 chicken dinner Saturday night which is awesome!), BIG crowd, a calcutta on Sunday's handicap, and a great staff. Not to mention the trophies are pretty nice.

Michigan throws great targets and is well ran but needs a little work as far as incentives to attend.

Hope this helps and shoot well!

    Regards,
    Matt

Come to the Great Lakes Grand at Mason in MI.

I love shooting at both Mason and the Cardinal Center.

The Ohio State is the bigger shoot.

Drive out to Iowa and shoot with us.

Great shoot, great people and we seem to have great weather that time of the year.

I would really like to attend all three shoots but I have scheduled most of my vacation time to be able to return home and see my family once a month. That means what ever I do, I will only be able to shoot a few events at what ever state shoot I attend. I shoot with Bob and Jack Aldridge a lot and they have always raved about the Cardinal Center so that is on my short list of places to shoot at. I have not heard as much about the IN and MI shoots.

Iowa is my birth state and I have family in Des Moines. I do plan on shooting there some day but vacation time is not available for this year.

I am just looking for a little feedback from shooters who have attended these state shoots. I have already learned a few things from the people that have replied so far. $3 chicken dinner sounds great. If you have read any of my threads, you know food is important to me.

I like the $3 Indiana meal but it is second to the NRA hog roast during the Ohio State Shoot. Ohio is a much nicer facility than Indiana, until the new place in Columbus gets approved/built, but the Hoosiers are just a little friendlier. I wouldn't swear to it but I think Ohio might pay better but Indiana has more out-of-state trophies.

Forgot to mention the "All-American" breakfast at the Indiana Gun Club. Very tasty after a night of cold beverages. It has a tendancy to "suck" up a lot of fluid, LOL.

    Good Shooting,

All this talk about food is making the choice tough. I am a sucker for a good pig roast. Looks like Ohio may be the one.

Michigan will be holding their 100th state shoot this year with special events planned. You can always go to the others, but how many times can you attend a 100th year anniversary? Just something to consider.

AS close as the Indiana shoot is, you could get in A couple of events just by driving there on the weekend or even A day or two in the evening if you get off work early enough.
From Roanoke it wouldn't be too far.

I'm inviting you to the Missouri State Shoot at Linn Creek, held in mid-May or our Fall Handicap, held in early October. We have a free meal on Sat of the Fall Handicap. If you'd like to come to our state shoot, I'd be honored to buy you a sandiwich...karla
