Looking at buying an MX3 one with Kolar tubes and don't know if it is a regular 12ga or a carrier barrel. Don't have it in my hands and seller is not knowledgeable.

Thank you Bill. I guess the weight should be marked on the barrel? This would be the safest. I have heard that while most carrier barrels are marked and are made to not accept a 12ga, that there are a few that were overbored and not marked.

    Weighing sounds the safest.

My Kolar carrier barrel was not marked in any way and my K-80 carrier barrel was stamped with a warning not to fire without the tubes.

My mx-8 lusso combo has a light and heavy barrel, only marked with the weight,I use the light barrels for the sub gauge tubes, but either barrel can be fired as a 12 gauge. Dan Witcher
