Deborah Ohye Neilson and Donald Neilson Jr are married but do they live together? Does Deborah sleep on the New Jersey side of the the bed and Donald on the Pa side? Just is a little odd that one shoots as a Pa. Resident and one is a New Jersey Resident.

This was a simple Question !! It matters for the State Teams and also for winning Resident and Non-Resident trophies.

It's actually a good question- how can two people who are married be residents of different states if they live together? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have heard that they have 2 houses...one in PA and one in NJ.

Martin and I have the same sort of situation. When we got together, he was from Kansas, and I from PA. We are keeping both houses, and spending a little time in each. I started ATA here, he started ATA there. We have ties, and we both want to keep those ties.

    What's the problem? I don't see it.

The question of different homes in different states isn't a big deal. In Ohio we have a Norheast Zone Director that has only shot 200 registered targets in the the last 5 years.

Why would anyone vote for a Zone Director that doesn't shoot registered trap?

Exactly what ATA rule is being broken in this situation?

For several years I worked as a full-time consultant in New York State. I had an apartment in NY but also owned property in Pennsylvania and wished to remain a PA resident as far as ATA competition. I inquired about my situation to several ATA officials as was told that as far as the ATA was concerned, the residency rules were in place primarily to keep a shooter from competing in two state shoots as a resident in the same target year. The ATA doesn't care which state you say you are from. If challenged, all it takes is a drivers license or a proof of occupancy (utility bill) from the state in question. However, since no ATA rule is being broken, there really isn't a challenge process.

But since this is really a personal matter that has no bearing on your what-so-ever, I suggest you let individuals make the choices that are best for themselves.
