    When should Christmas season start?

I went into Halmark in July and they had Christmas things out. YES IN JULY. WHY??????????? Other places had some out in Aug and Sept. Here it is Oct and Walmart had their Christmas stock out.

Should a law be past that stores have to wait till the day after Thanksgiving to put out their Christmas stuff?

The stores are competing for less and less consumer dollars spent each year. The earlier they start selling holiday merchandise, the more of that limited spending they will receive(in theory).

Ebenezer keeps Christmas in his heart all year....

If the stores that advertise and place displays out early, then don't go there. Stay away and continue to be a misery old coot!!

Its hard to fathom Christmas when you are having dinner with the doors open so you can get a nice breeze ... I think Santa in Arizona should wear a suit with shorts and short sleeve vest and no hat, sucking down a lemonade which hes listening to all the little Rug Rats ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Okay here goes nothing. Stores have limited dollars to buy merchandise so there is no in between seasons anymore. Christmas goes up when it comes into the stores because it takes hours upon hours to reset the store to seasonal status. Everything needs to be set before Thanksgiving because shoppers expect the best selection early in the season because that's the major buy of Christmas. There is no time to reorder. There may be a trickle of merchandise between Thanksgiving and Christmas and restock of regular stock items but the majority of merch is purchased by August. If you have two employees doing decorations in a major department store they must start early in order to finish by Thanksgiving. Nothing can be done hap hazard because of safety standards and it takes time. Enough riduculous laws.

Also Christmas club checks are sent out the first week of November.

I will never accept Christmas displays being put out before Thanksgiving.

Depends on your point of view but I think one major department store has Christmas all year round, in its logo, but most of us dont realize it. Can you guess who it is? IMO MACY'S!! Think about it for a minute, the star, the same star they have used for years in their parades at Thanksgiving. I love Christmas, reminds me of the days when stores like Montgomery Wards used to have stores in small towns. One year they had a gigantic race track in the middle window of the store here....Hope all your Christmas wishes come true, my #1 wish now is no more Obama!

I agree with Thanksgiving, that said I think the stores start getting ready on Dec 26, that's when they sell all the stuff to make room for more new stuff

Myself it starts on Dec 24, sometime I will go nuts and start shopping on the 23rd, but rarely
