I received the 2 yard reduction according to the ATA info center and plan to take it. Went to a shoot and the shoot director looked up each shooter said if we shoot at the new reduced yardage then we accepted the reduction, if we didn't and shot from the old yardage we had refused it. I went ahead shot at my reduced yardage and so did almost all other participants. Got home and looked at the rule book, says you have to wait until you have your new average card before the reduction is in effect.

So...whats the real deal...seen it stated several ways here. Sorry if it has been explained here earlier...looked but could not find a clear answer from a delegate or other official source.

p.s. Bet my trip to the upcoming Dixie Grand is confusing.

It is not official until you have a paper card with the reduction or until your Delegate or CHC member approves it.

I was told yesterday, January 10 by Allen Radway, Western Zone ATA Vice-President, that a Delegate, CHC Member or voting member of the EC has the ability to use the Shooter Information Center to approve the reduction at a registered competition before the new soft card is physically in hand.

The Rulebook I have, dated September 1, 2010 has the old rule which has been superceded and the new wording is in the on-line version of the rulebook. See page 25 in the rulebook on the ATA site.

Assuming that the Shoot Director was one of the three above folks, then he/she did the right thing and acores will be recorded as shot.

The EC members, CHC members, and Delegates do not delegate their responsibilities to other people.
