    Last time I bought a 12 pound can was 2001 or2
I still have 4 of them left
    I will keep them
Maybe some day I will need to open them

12 pound cans ended when Hodgdon bought out IMR. Like said above, it was mostly for shipping reasons. Break-em all. Jeff

I believe the lot number started with a letter followed by 2 numerals which indicate the date of manufacture. I have a keg marked E02N003 (2002). Price tag on it is $136.99. I could be wrong about the lot number/date stuff. I used to save the kegs (I was planning on building a pontoon boat). ;-) When we moved I put all 10 of them in the dumpster(one was full of primers). 700x. One of my all time favorites, occasional cakeiness and all.

I was told that new federal shipping laws require a maximum of 8 lb. per container. I used to buy 25 lb. drums of Nitro 100.

About the same time that Hercules/Alliant quit putting Red Dot in the old cardboard kegs.
Time marches on but change sucks....

It looks like they (DOT) changed the law in Oct.30,2003 to read no more then 8 lb. per container, no more then 2 containers per packaging. It must not have taken effect until later as I have a 25 lb. drum of powder dated Feb. 2004
