the insurance gentleman calls me from Sportsman's insurance agency on my new Custom Grade Kolar. He said your serial number must be wrong. You put down your ATA number as a serial number. shocked , i called my wife and had here pull the gun out of the safe to check serial number. You guess it, my ata membership number matches the serial number of a Kolar i just bought.

Yeah, like Sir Bear, I wonder if it wasn't intentional by Kolar to honor the original purchaser, make it easy to identify, and always know who the original purchaser was??? Pretty cool though....Bob Dodd

00 plus three digit. the first two numbers are the year you started with the ata. example 94 space+ 00+ three digit number. my kolar is serial number 00 plus three digit number. the gun is orginal and numbers are orginal we called Kolar..

It's Kismet. Now you need a lady luck tattoo on your upper right arm, and she should be holding a banner with your ATA number.

I can design it, if you like.

That's the best serial number, congrats. I once had a Ruger Mini 14 GB with the numbers 666 in the serial number. I kept seeing more 666 serial numbers on guns I looked at. Gave me the creeps so I got rid of the Ruger.

The first two numbers never used to be the year you started with the ATA because mine are 17-62225 ... I was told that the 17 designated the state and Illinois was 17 at the time when I joined over 35 years ago ... This probably has changed and it would make sense to have the first two numbers the year you signed up ... WPT ... (YAC) ...
