The gun comes in a new Remington case .

Iam looking for a number to put in the case with a description in case something happens to me so she will have some idea of what it is worth. I don't need some vulcher offering her 500.00 bucks and her not knowing what it is worth. Thanks Jim

    I don't believe Remington ever made a 36" 870 barrel. Could it be 34?

I would put it in the $1k to $1200 Range. Barrel should be worth roughly $400, and $500-$600 for the wood.

I guess I'm a vulture. $500 is what I would pay for that gun that appears to have uncheckered mismatched wood and a receiver needing rebluing. Nothing special there. Sorry, just my honest opinion.

A 34" factory barrel is worth @ least $400, I've never seen a 36" for sale, so the sky is the limit.

The wood is worth @ least $500, even though its uncheckered.

Your close to $1k without even factoring in the receiver.

I would say around $650-700 max, I think if you measure the Bbl it will be a 34" Bbl, a base 870 trap is worth $275-350 max. I don't see enough in the pics to get any higher. Only because of the rarity of the 34" Bbl and the unchec kered stock. If you can get more good luck, value is in the eye of the beholder. What is the LOP on stock only w/o recoil device? Or the LOP with recoil device at minimum adj, In other words collapsed, shortest LOP.

Gary , the stock does not have a recoil device. What you see is a Graco adj. length of pull mechinism. Yes, the Anton stock is un checkered as is the forend.
I did noy think I would ever get the price of nice checkering (350.00 to 500.00) out of it. I may be wrong as I have been befor. Jim

If the receiver is as beat up as it looks in the 6th picture, you would be better off parting it out. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig. Mark

The gun would be worth more money with Remington wood on it. The 36" barrel would comand a premium to the right buyer. Other than that you have a 870. These guys can speculate all they want. Not worth any more than any other 870 till you find a buyer that can't live with out the long barrel. Bill

    Bigboy:
I am a long time 870 collector. I have never heard of or seen a factory Remington 870 barrel that is 36 inches. If this is in deed a Remington factory 870 barrel, it might have been made special order. Years ago, if you had the money Remington and or Winchester would make you almost anything.

If the 870 is marked TB or says trap on it, and if this is a 36 inch factory Remington trap barrel, along with the Anton stock, most collectors would pay roughly $1,000.00 for everything.

If the receiver is a field grade, and the barrel is a 34 inch Remington trap barrel with two beads, with the Anton stock, I would say used it's worth $800.00, especially due to the barrel and stock.

Either way, it's a nice barrel and stock combination. Most of these long barrel 870's are certified smoke poles.

I find that if I part guns out I usually do a little better. If you really want to sell and not hold out for the last buck $750 to $850. Bulge.

It looks to me as though that barrel is sitting in a standard Remington Hard case, therefore, it's a 30" barrel. It does have a center bead and it's marked FULL so it's pretty standard and nothing special. There's something on the left side of the barrel that I can't make out in the picture.

Stock and forearm are worth about $300 to $450, even uncheckered. A 30" 870 TRAP fixed FULL barrel, maybe $150. Trigger assembly $45. Receiver & action $100 to $150 and those cases are $50 to $100 shipped on EBay. Yes, worth more parted out than whole.

A very nice factory original standard fixed choke Remington TB Trap with a 30" barrel can be had for $400 to $500...more for a TC Trap and value all depends on condition. If someone offered your widow $500 cash for the gun, that might be more than she would get from a dealer after commission.

More importantly, shoot it and enjoy it for as long as you can!

    I've seen a 36" barrels before....it is not factory. I think it's a Hastings barrel.

The barrel is fixed choke so that leaves out the whole Hastings idea (look at picture 5). I can make out what looks like 2 3/4" shells Trap Only in the same picture. The gun is what it is until more info is presented.

ss, ya see pic 4 and the mark on the barrel? It's Remington, but I bet he measured the entire length of the barrel.

In picture four you can see the "REP" in the oval stamp. That stands for Remington English Proofed. On Anton stocks if I remember right when there are two spacers on the grip cape that stood for a higher grade of wood.

I as cubancigar stated, have seen one other factory 36" barrel. An ole farmer in Nebraska had it on his 870. Don't remember wether it was actually stated to be trap. It does have two factory beads which typically would indicate some type of target barrel by Remingtons standards of that era. His is of 70's vintage.
