Had a drop out trigger converted from pull to release at a big shoot by a very well respected travelling gunsmith, worked great for 150 shots and then wouldn't release'

Sent it back to him for repair. Got it back the other day and it worked for 8 shots and again wouldn't release.

Sending it back again. Startin to piss me off. How would you guys handle it?

Pick a better gunsmith. Seriously, I'd ask for my money back.

According to many on TS, he is one of the best at his trade and more than likely the best one that travels.

There is a well known smith that I wanted to use but when you need it done ASAP you gotta take the work where it can get done.

How many chances should I give him?

Personally, I'd give up on him.

it has to be your decision. it would appear to me it is more than he can deal with. A release should be something you can count on being consistent, if it isn't you have all but eliminated yourself from the competition.

Some gunsmiths are better at a certain trigger configuration than others. Have had BT-99 and TMX releases done by Dean Harris of Skeet's Gun Shop in Tahlequah, OK. Both are excellent. Asked Dean about doing a release in my two SKB 85TSS guns.. He declined saying the hammer travel was to short for his design. Was referred to Mel and Glen Hunting of Silver Dollar who specialize in SKB release triggers. Now they work excellent and the workmanship is really neat.

Well, the big reason I even considered using his services instead of waiting is that he recieves glowing reviews on this site.

Hopefully it will work this time

What does the trigger type have to do with the problem with this gunsmith? If he can't fix it I know the man who can

I knew I would have to switch to a release but I was hopping to wait till fall. After 30 fliches in one event, I had to do something.

Gotta give the guy a chance to fix it

MIA asks a pertinent question. If it is a Perazzi there are several things that will cause you problems that are not in the trigger.
