OK, on an earlier thread I ask if you used 1oz @ 1125fps for 1st shot doubles (many of you said yes). Now I would like to ask what load do you use for the 2nd shot on doubles? Do any of you use the 1oz @ 1125fps for both shots?

    1 1/8oz 2 3/4 dram 8's

First shot is 7/8oz if no wind, if it's windy then 1oz 2 3/4 dram 8's

I have found that the simplicity of using just my singles load makes doubles even more enjoyable (if that is possible!) I really like doubles and tried the 1 oz of 8.5's for the first bird. It works, but if you miss any first shots, you will be left wondering if you would have broke the bird with 1 1/8 of shot. I also used my handicap load for the second shot, but my results were just as good with my singles load and less recoil. That second shot really isn't that far away. So I use a pair of light 8's (1 1/8th of #8's @1145 ft/sec), simple and very effective.

I use one ounce of 7 1/2's at 1250 for both birds, same as for everything but Caps and Bunker.

    After much trial and error, I have gone to a 1.125 oz @ 1150 # 8 first shot ( my 16yd load ) and for the second shot 1.125 oz 3 dram # 8 ( my handicap load ).

When I miss, it is never the ammo.

I am 44 years old, 5'11 and 180 pounds FWIW.

Doubles is still 16 yard shooting, even though you are taking on 2 birds.

I have used everything from #9s to #7.5s for the 1st shot and everything from #8.5s to #7.5s for the 2nd shot (once I grabbed a box of #6s by mistake for the second shot by mistake) ... all worked equally well.

Now I just use whatever I have the most of laying around.

The problem is what is between your ears ... not what is in your gun!

Same as I use up for singles, same as I use for handicap. 1 or 1-1/8th oz
#7-1/2 at 1150 or 1200 fps. I used to try to custom tailor my loads, but it did not seem to help. Concentration and practice helped me more than different loads.

2 3/4 dram 1 1/8 Oz (#8 or 7 1/2) for both shots. Haven't found a doubles target yet that can out run the shells, generally the targets just turn into smoke clouds. Spend your time on the line watching the targets not messing around with your ammo.
