Kerry stated that Syria is not a civil war. So what kind of war is it?

Is it a religious war between two factions?

Does the US want to involve itself in a religious war? Why?

Sending humanitarian aid for the refugees is one thing but fighting their wars for them is quite another.

If the international community is so appalled why don't they get involved and send in their airstrikes? Or humanitarian aid?

We've spent 1 billion appalling dollars on Syria. What has the international
    community done?

Why don't we just treat it as a law enforcement matter, and put them on trial in New York City?

Just look at photos of the refugees. Aside from the elderly, women and children, all the men are just standing around. Why can't they fight?

In fact the women are willing to take on jihad as suicide bombers so why aren't they fighting?

If it's not worth it for them to fight, why are we getting involved?

The WSJ and other papers have called it a civil war for some time. I said on another thread that during our civil war, no one came to help us. We finished it on our own. Then I was told that it wasn't a civil war. Go figure.

    Interesting article.

Oh look, seventy five thousand dems and rinos with their hands up volunteer to go. Talk about Obama loyal. No need for Congress.

And to think we could have solved the problem in 1990-1991.

These people danced in the streets and celebrated when we were hit on 9/11.

I say let them kill each other forever.

Give the losing side weapons whenever necessary to keep it going.

Why does Obama want to become involved in Syria, anyway? He says the present regime is unacceptable, but the only viable option, with military and political power to take and hold power, is an Al Qaeda backed force. I thought they were the bad guys these days.

This smacks of the same complete lack of political awareness that was exhibited when Saddam Hussein was ousted, leaving a religion-based power bloc in place, which wants to destroy the Great Satan and all other non-Muslim Western infidels, no matter what the figurehead of the moment says.

There has been no apparent thought given to who or what will take over Assad's place, if or when he is toppled, but somebody better ask the question soon, or you will find yourselves enmeshed in a ground war on a third front. Look in the history books. It has NEVER been a happy ending for country involved in a three front war. Hitler found that out the hard way, and Obama is about to find out, as well. We can only hope that Russia doesn't take a military option to prove their support for Syria. That, along with the whole Muslim world being encouraged to take on the USA, and its' Western allies, just about guarantees we all lose, worldwide.

McInerny (sp?) on Fox this a.m. stated that the war is not a "tribal war".

Shouldn't we know what Kind of war this is before we make a commitment and before it becomes a World War?

Any truth to the rumor that the civilians that were gassed, were Christians?

This mess is Russia's doing from way back. If we are being lured into war we should wait. Sooner or later we will be attacked or our allies will be attacked which will prove that we are being baited into war beyond a doubt.
I say it's Russia's mess. Let Russia and their allies fix what's broken. So far all they do is run their inciteful mouths.

Was Putin referring directly to Obama with his remark "giving a hand grenade to a monkey"?

Ok so what happens if we declare war and then the pentagon goes to 'the bank' to get the money and 'the bank' says 'we've reconsidered; with all the debt you have already, no'. Do we lose the war by default because we can't fund it?

    JT,

There was an article in which the Russian deputy prime minister was said to have stated that the US (the West) was like a monkey with a hand grenade. If I can find it I'll post the link to the article.

    Telegraph headline:

"Syria: Russia evacuates citizens ahead of military strikes in the 'next few days'"

"Russia has begun to evacuate its citizens from Syria, as its deputy prime minister stated that the West was acting in the Islamic world like "a monkey with a grenade"."

It's a known a fact that Russia's best efforts have been aimed at the Middle East from the 70's on. There have been many recent publications on the subject. From what I've read in various articles, the 'hate America' campaign was Russian.

    Bob Falfa....
Thank You. Your post nearly cost me a keyboard as I was enjoying a cup of coffee when I scrolled into it, but it was worth it...!!!
If the Japs had better press agents...they might have explained away the "limited air attack" on Pearl as an effort to change America's behavior towards our own minority population back then.
How DARE Roosevelt take that "limited air attack" as an act of WAR....there were NO Jap boots on the ground.

Or maybe It wasn't an actual attack... just "Workplace Violence"...????!!!

The monkey put the hand grenade down. Now they are trying to sell the deal to Congress, who know full well their constituencies are 80 per cent strongly opposed to attacking Syria.

Just on the wire, he said he wouldn't strike without Congressional approval.

So the sell job is on big time.

And we look like a whole bunch of weak tits.

the pukes criticized Bush to Hell and back about WMD when it was a fact that Saddam had gassed 500 Kurds. Now we should let Obozo play with the big slingshot over 1400 deaths, some of which may have been caused by the rebels?

Load shells buy ammo, these are dangerous times.
